The most recent episode of the internecine warfare that periodically breaks out between the vegans and the vegetarians on VB once again got me thinking about how few veg*ns actually stay veg*n for any length of time. Based on my experience with veg*ns IRL and what I know of former VB members, I'm betting that no more than half of today's true believers will still be veg*n five years from now.<br><br>
If you care to try to prove me wrong, just post here, saying that you'll be back in January of 2016, to let us all know that you're still veg*n. In fact, to make it less likely that anyone will forget about it, I'll start a thread in January of each year, for everyone to check in.<br><br>
I'll start it off. I've been vegetarian for approximately 22 years.

At this point in my life I've been veg*n for more years than I was omni. I will still be veg*n in 2016.

I fully intend to stay veg*n, so what the hell, I'll take the challenge even though I've only been veg*n about 2 years. I understand that it's entirely possible that I'll lose my drive, however, as much as I'd like to think otherwise.

I've been meat free or over 30 years. I can't promise I'll still be posting here in 2016, but that won't mean I've suddenly decided to take up carcass chomping again.

I think about this a lot. When I get blue I find I just can't see the point anyone. Right now the thought of meat disgusts me, but not always and I can't say it always will.<br><br>
I do hope to be veg*n indefinitely.

I've said before that the best way to guard against that possibility (of giving up) is to take it as a serious risk that you acknowledge and realize in advance.<br><br>
I'll be back in 2016

Stopped eating meat in 1988. Vegan at the milllenium. Yea, it took a long time to sink in. If veggieboards is still around in 2016, I'll try to remember to drop by.

Same here too.<br><br>
I'll be back.<br><br>
I went veg*n when I was around 12/13 yrs old and I'm now 33. Not once in those 20 yrs did I "slip up" or "fall off the wagon" or ever question my decision or think to reverting back.

I've been veg*n for almost two years now. I hope I'll remember to come here then, considering that I'll probably have moved countries or something, and I have the memory retainment qualities of a sieve, but I'll do my very best <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/tongue3.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":p">

I've been veg*n for about a year and a half. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss meat. Since it is part of my moral code, I doubt I would slip up.<br><br><a href="http://www.veggieboards.com/newvb/attachment.php?s=5f8379007bb379723096ce0abbf899c0&attachmentid=14575" title="">Attachment 14575</a><br><br>

I was a "flexi" for most of my life. Finally went vegetarian 2 years ago. I can say with the utmost confidence that I will be a vegetarian (maybe not on the boards due to my poor attention span) in 2016.

This is such a great idea! I haven't eaten meat in over 10 years and I've been vegan for around 1, I'll be here in 2016. I sometimes take a long time to follow through with my decisions but when I do I never go back on them, especially not when those decisions are based on an overwhelming amount of evidence and logic. A plant based diet just makes so much sense! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smitten.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":smitten:">
