I have noticed that there are several posts from people that mention Ohio, and in particular, Cincinnati... I am from Cincinnati, and really ALL my friends are veg*ans (except maybe one or two), and I am lucky to have found a vegan boy(friend)... who else lives in my city or in another city in OH?

Hi Starsprite

I live in Cincinnati and I go to the University of Cincinnati. You are right they are a lot of vegans in Cincinnati! I love to go out to eat in Clifton because you definitely find some restaurants that cater to vegans.

Hi TruJewel! I graduated from UC a little over a year ago... I went to DAAP for Graphic Design... Have you ever been to Shanghai Mamma's downtown, it has some awesome vegetarian (vegan) meals... Myra's is good too, in Clifton, I want to start my own vegan cafe in Northside... You really do have to know where to look for the vegans in Cincinnati though, there are alot if you are into the Punk/Hardcore scene, which my friends are into... and really, if you go to DAAP, you will find most of the vegans/vegetarians there...

Hi Starsprite! Welcome back. I've been in Ohio my whole life. I was born in Toledo, lived in Perrysburg until I was three, moved down to Wapakoneta near Lima and pretty much grew up there, then moved back to Perrysburg, and now I'm in Oregon right outside of Toledo. Now I'm trying to get out of here and get myself to Texas.

By the way, I was Out of Step on the first VeggieBoards and LinuS on Vegan Outreach. I don't know if you remember me or not.

Hi "bigwaxjesus"! I do remember those names on the first veggieboards and veganoutreach, cool, nice to see some "old-timers" again... I have been near Cincinnati my whole life so far too, although I lived in San Francisco for a total of 6 months, but that was just for internships for school... I wanted to move to Vancouver, BC in a couple of years, but my sister just had a baby, so that might keep me around here...

Hi TruJewel, Shanghai Mamma's is right down the road from the Massoinette, if you know where that is, I think it is on 7th or something... They are closed on Sundays, but open until 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday... they have HOMEMADE soymilk (get it hot) and tofu, and you HAVE to try to Vegetarian Cashew Chicken or the Faux Orange Ribs... mmmm....

As far as other veg*ns in Ohio... I am, there's of course veganinohio, and skylark... is HappyDaisy currently in Ohio or is she back in Texas or wherever she lives? I was born in Cinti, BTW. We moved when I was four... but one of my best friends lived on Hartwell Ct. off of Vine St. (She moved, so I don't think I'm divulging too much location info.)

What is the Skyline Chili chain up to these days? It's been a couple of years since I was in Cinti, but I do remember that they added some veg*n-friendly stuff to the menu that I don't recall seeing before I went veg*n. I wasn't really looking then, either.

Hi Tamar! I live off Vine Street too

Skyline Chili has awesome Black Bean and Rice, which you can get in a burrito, over spaghetti, or in hot-dog buns... it is vegan. I get it all the time when I go to visit my parents who live out of the city (where vegan options become fewer and fewer)...

Um, I'm from Ohio.

I live in Columbus, the least known of the big three (but the biggest!--inferiority complex, sorry).

I grew up outside of Toledo, too, in a rural town called Swanton.

I guess I was referring to population, in which we double Cincy and beat Cleveland by a few hundred thousand. I'm not sure about geographic area, though.

I was in Bowling Green today, just south of Toledo, and I saw a brand new Skyline Chilli on the main drag. It's right by a vegetarian restaurant, so that's nice that they're starting to get plenty of vegetarian food in the area.

Toledo, ugh, don't bother.

The one good thing about growing up in Toledo is that it makes any other large midwestern city seem like Mecca.

Oh wow, Columbus must really be awesome if it's that much bigger.... um, no. I guess I have a hard time with the idea that bigger=better. I like my small-townish area; I wouldn't trade it.
