In our continuing series of Star Interviews, our new VB Celebrity is Tiger Lilly! Yay!!! Tiger Lilly hails from "Down Under," as we in the northern hemisphere would say, and has been a VB member for over two-years. Let's give it up for Tiger Lilly!

A few simple rules for interviewing:

-Please ask only a few questions at a time, so everyone has a chance to participate. (You can come back often to ask more questions!) Each interview runs for a week, typically from Monday to Monday.

-Anyone (and everyone) can be a VB Star. If you would like to be a VB Star, just send me or any of the moderators a PM, and we'll arrange to get you into the hot-seat! In the event no one comes forward, it will be up to our current Star to choose next week's victim, er, interviewee. If you're asked to be a Celebrity, but don't want to be one, you may take a pass; likewise, the current Star is free to pass on any questions they are not comfortable with answering.

-Please keep our posting rules in mind, and let's keep this PG-13 or better. And remember, if our current famous person expresses an opinion with which you disagree, please do not give an argument in return. This is an interview, not a debate!

NOTE- If you'd like to read about our previous Stars (they go back several years,) all of the interviews are archived in the Meet Outstanding Users forum, for your reading pleasure!

A few basic facts about Tiger Lilly, our new Star of the Week:

Quote:
-Real first name?

Okay, think of one of the most British female names you can think of. No, not Elizabeth, but close. That's my first name :p

-Age?

28

-Sex/Gender Identity?

Cis Female.

-Relationship status?

Happily living in sin!

-Location (as specific as you are comfortable being)?

Sydney

-Religious beliefs (or lack thereof)?

I know this might sound a little airy-fairy, but I don't see my self as religious, more spiritual.

"Religion is for people who are going to hell, spirituality is for people who've been there"

Either way, yes, I believe in Gods. I identify best with the Norse Gods. But I also try and learn as much as I can from all different types of belief systems. At the moment, I'm reading the Tao Te Ching and find it very beneficial.

-Political leanings?

Left.

I think the state and society have a responsibility to helping individuals elevate themselves. Things like healthcare and education should be free. Not only that, it should be accessible and there should be policies, procedures and systems in place to make those things as accessible as possible.

On the flip side, I think if an individual is relying on the state, that the individual has even more duty to elevate themselves. I have little time for someone who thinks that just because the state can provide, that it should provide.

-Are you a vegetarian, vegan or raw foodist (or something else)?

Lacto-vegetarian. Though, this month I'm not eating dairy either.

-What is the meaning behind your username?

It's the nickname my partner uses for me sometimes :p If anyone wants to, Google Search "Tiger Lily Peter Pan"....The picture of her sitting on the rock says it all, ha ha!

-Have you ever met anyone famous?

Yes, quite a few. Mainly musicians, a few politicians and a few sports stars. I did meet Tony Abbott once as well (our current PM).

-Do you live with any companion animals?

Two kittens who are far too big to be called kittens any more.

-Do you live with any companion humans?

My partner.

-Where is your favorite place that you have visited?

Sydney! So I moved here!

-What do you enjoy most about being veg*n?

The cooking. I used to be terrible at cooking. But when I went veg, I found I really had a love for it. It might be the lack of guilt, or all the fun new ways to create things. But the cooking is the most enjoyable thing.

-With whom would you most love to have dinner?

Sarah Kramer. She could do the cooking though :p

-Do you have any secret talents?

I used to be able to tie a lolly snake in a knot with my tongue. Obviously I can't practise that talent any more.

-What dish/recipe can you make that knocks people's socks off?

Basil pesto. I've finally perfected the vegan version of it, so my partner is pretty pleased. So far, no one else has ever tried my veggie cooking.

-What's your favorite restaurant?

ALL OF THEM! But Mother Chu's is my favourite. First time I tried vegan cooking and loads of good memories there.

-What do you do to cheer yourself up when you're feeling blue?

Eat loads of chocolate and then get a tummy ache.

Or, I cook. Then eat loads of food and get a tummy ache....

-What's your biggest cooking/baking disaster?

I burnt my eyebrows while trying to make garlic bread once. It was horrific.

-What's the one food/product, that you'd love to "veg*nize"?

I think they've all already been veg*nised! But, meringue would probably be the thing I'd try to veganise.

My partner really misses pavlovas and those include meringue (which we can't eat because eggs). So, that's what I would like to veganise.

Oh and the colour red in cosmetics! I would like that to be veganised. Because crushed up bugs just to get the colour red is WACK!

Your questions, please!

Hi Margaret? To me, you've always been a star on VB.

What's the best and worst things about living in Australia? (Were you born in Oz by the way?)

The mods are giving you the $10m that we found at the back of the mod couch last week. How will you spend it?

What was the happiest day of your life so far?

Regarding polytheistic/pagan identities, how do you feel about ritualistic animal sacrifices to gods for religious reasons?

(I've known some polytheists who worshiped Norse gods and were really into that- so I'm guessing you've probably had some experience with it?)

How old are your kitties, and what are their names?

As a princess in Never Land, do you ever regret you can't fly, as Peter Pan does?

How did you know to answer "cis female" in the sex/gender part of the survey? ( I only ask this as I am trans female, and have not met many cis folk who know what cis means). Most cis folk would have answered "female" or "male". I'm guessing you are well socialized, educated and or we'll traveled (those last bits weren't technically questions).

Margaret? Hmmm not quite :p

Best and worst thing about living in Australia-

Best thing, is definitely the landscapes. We have so many different 'types' of land, from rainforests, to snow, to deserts, to just bush scrub. It's all beautiful. Even here in Sydney, you can find places to go bushwalking. I think that's really special and we're lucky to have those areas.

Worst thing- The divide between city and country. It's not just a cultural thing, it's a political thing. There a lot of services that I think our country areas need, that they're not getting.

Yes, I was born here (though I can get a dual passport and be half a Pom! :p).

10 Million? Wow... Okay, first, I set up a sanctuary farm for animals. All kinds, as many as we can have. I'd also put some money aside in trust for that sanctuary. Maybe run courses on animal safety (from dog safety to First Aid for animals of all kinds) to keep it financially viable.
Then, buy a house or two, make one an investment property.
The rest gets spent on videogames, comic books and action figures. :p

The happiest day of my life.... Moving in with my partner. I was starting a new career opportunity and it was the first time I ever got to move in with a boy before! It was very exciting!!!!

When I ate meat, I would 'offer' some of my meat to the Gods.

Now, Thor will just have to deal with tofu. It's probably better for him anyway! I haven't experienced any animal sacrifices, though I tend to go solo with my pagan pursuits.

If anyone told me I had to do that now, I'd tell them to stick it. Just because it was acceptable then, doesn't make it so now.

They're hardly a year old. But we think they're part Maine Coone because they're already quite huge! I call them "The Lannister Cats" because they're sort of inbred :p

And, yes, I do regret not being able to fly.... But I figure everyone can just carry me everywhere, cos I'm a princess, so....it all works out in the end!

The short answer, Dan Savage.

The long answer is, I try to be an informed ally for my LGBTQAI friends and relatives. I know I'll stuff up, I know I'll say something wrong, but in those instances where I have, my friends have always been kind in educating me as to the correct terms, or how something actually is. For a long time, I didn't really understand what transgender was or how people felt (Youtube was a great eye opener, I am constantly amazed by the journeys people undertake). So, I do my best so that they don't have to educate me too much.

Lolly snakes... Uhmmm made of gelatine. Jelly snakes maybe? Killer pythons? (But lolly Killer Pythons, not actual ones. To tie them into knots with my tongue would be both dangerous and un-vegetarian, ha ha!).

Most risky thing I've ever done was get into a car without a seat belt. I did it because I was a stupid teenager. I was also a lucky stupid teenager who learned her lesson.

Adventurous, was going vegetarian. I've always been pretty conservative with my taste buds, until now.

(For everyone else, here's a link to one
).
Initially....I laughed at them because they appeal to my brand of humour.

I also think they're incredibly clever, from a marketing point of view. They needed a way to distinguish themselves from the Up And Go Sanitarium poppers, they needed to give people a reason to switch brands. I never enjoyed the Up and Go's when I tried them, so their pointing to taste is a good ploy. Give it the reasoning of 'soy' and people who haven't tried Up and Go are suddenly more ready to help you out because OF COURSE milk will be better for you and OF COURSE soy is icky because plants= bleurgh!

With all of that said, the ads do annoy me. Mainly because I know what soy milk tastes like straight and the after taste is minimal at best, so all this does is play into the fears of people, not the actual facts. Plus, as much as Up And Go wasn't my cup of tea, cows milk isn't going to get me off to a good start in the day. Unless I want to feel heavy for the first half of my day and unable to perform any physical activities.

Though, they're not as bad as the 'Lamb for Australia Day' ads and they also show a certain fear about how popular veg*n products are becoming.

Omg, those 'Lamb for Australia Day' ads are so cringe-inducing. But I laughed at the soy aftertaste ad......... *guiltily hands back vegan badge*

I love the taste of soy milk though, even the ones with a super strong aftertaste. I've been drinking it long before I even knew what vegetarian or vegan meant. But the aftertaste can be pretty disgusting in coffee.

Speaking of the Lamb for Australia Day ad, how liberal/conservative/polarised are Australian politics in general?
