The next interviewee is AspireToInspire!
The week is from March 15th until March 22nd.

Interview Guidelines:
  • Please only ask a few questions at a time, so others get a chance to ask some, and so the current interviewee does not get overwhelmed.
  • In order to become next weeks victim, you must participate in the threads. The current weeks interviewee will then select someone who contributed to their thread to be the star for next week.
  • Please keep VB rules in mind when you post. Keep it PG-13 or above, classy, and fun. No spamming, trolling, or anything you know you should not be doing.
  • If the current interviewee would like to pass on answering a question for whatever reason, that is A-OK. We want these to be fun to participate in, not uncomfortable or upsetting.
  • If you are chosen for the next week and you would rather not be interviewed for any reason, you can decline.

Female

-Relationship status?

married

-Location (as specific as you are comfortable being)?

Baltimore, Maryland

-Religious beliefs (or lack thereof)?

Unsure, I'm curious and open minded just not quite yet a believer in anything specific. I just live to be a decent person for my own piece of mind but I do believe in Karma.

I was raised Catholic.

-Political leanings?

Meh, I avoid talk of politics.

-Are you a vegetarian or vegan (or something else)?

vegan

-What is the meaning behind your username?

I once saw a quote I dug, it said: Aspire to inspire before you expire.

-Have you ever met anyone famous?

Did not have a chat or introduce myself per say, but I was about 5-10 feet away from professional poker players at a tournament my husband was in:

Daniel Negreanu
Isabelle Mercier
Barry Greenstein

-Do you live with any companion animals?

We have 3 dogs, a cat and a sugar glider.

-Do you live with any companion humans?

Just my husband.

-Where is your favorite place that you have visited?

Maine

-What do you enjoy most about being veg*n?

What is there not to enjoy?

-With whom would you most love to have dinner?

I'd love to have dinner with my paternal grandfather who passed away at the age of 53, when my father was just 15.

-Do you have any secret talents?

I have an eidetic (or photographic) memory, I draw, I used to climb tall trees to the top and door jams even as a tiny child. I also sing but I could never learn how to do a cartwheel

-What dish/recipe can you make that knocks people's socks off?

Either french toast or pancakes with breakfast potatoes. My potatoes get cooked three different ways, but well worth the effort and take a lot less time than you'd imagine.

-What's your favorite restaurant?

Non-veg*n: Qdoba
Veg*n local: Liquid Earth
Veg*n MA: Belmont Vegetarian or Loving Hut

-What do you do to cheer yourself up when you're feeling blue?

I sing, I cuddle, I remind myself that there are always people who have it worse, I self analyze to understand why I am feeling that way so that I can work at it. There have been occassions that if I need it bad enough, I'll shut myself in a room for a few minutes and have a cry.

-What's your biggest cooking/baking disaster?

I love cooking and baking! I taught myself how to cook when my husband and I moved in together fall of '02 so I have had many cooking disasters. Most recently, my first batch of vegan chocolate chip cookies... I didn't leave them in quite long enough so the middles were noticeably soft.

-What's the one food/product, that you'd love to "veg*nize"?

Poached eggs (over toast).

I know you have experienced some really bad stuff. How have you overcome (for want of a better word) those experiences, instead of letting them negatively affect the rest of your life?

What advice would you want to impart to your younger self?

What advice do you think your old woman self would want to give your current self?

What is your favorite time of day? Why?

Random acts of kindness. The honesty and innocence of children. Courage. My grandmother. That strength way down deep to pull through and continue when I may have felt like giving up.

No!
I've been meaning to try garbanzo flour but I just keep forgetting to look for it. I am still relatively new to Whole Foods so I get excited and distracted easily.

Most of the time, yes it is. But there are times I wondered what the hell I have gotten myself into. It is such a fantastic rollercoaster ride as the years fly by...

Nope

I think people are confused. They have the potential to be good but they also can rationalize and convince themselves of the terrible things they are also capable of. I believe what makes a "good" person is someone who can take an observant role in their own life, learn from the mistakes and work to better themselves because we've all done "bad" things at one point or another.

Do you play poker too?
A bull. I loves wolves and wild horses but I could never take them out of their natural element to be "mine" because part of what I love about them is their freedom and pack/herd. If I had decent acreage including some woods, I would love to have a nice bull who could come and go as he pleased.

Yes I do, not professionally however.

I am probably happiest when I am visiting with animals or holding a small child.

I enjoy a nice respectful debate

I am satisfied in general, but if I had some cash laying around I would probably go to school to be a CSI or something to do with forensics.

Quite frankly, I had to make myself. I mothered myself and talked myself through a lot of it. I had to learn how to forgive myself and forgive those who have done me wrong. I gained wisdom, patience and strength.

Don't be so trusting.

Trust more.

Late at night after my husband is playing poker and we will joke around and he will play with my hair while we watch TV or just falling asleep together. Because even though we are together most of the time, we are often doing our own thing but it is nice when we are able to come together even if it is walking into a room just to smile at the person you're in love with.

Do you think the Portuguese Man o' War is a poser? I mean, it's just a bunch of different organisms totally pretending to be a jellyfish.

I would probably point out that someone had dropped 20 bucks if I was with someone, or make a mental note but I would leave it there for someone who needed it more than I did.

Perfect margaritas with sugar on the rim not salt, Bikini Martini's and Gilligan's Island.

The last book I read was The Vegan Girls Guide to Life, my husband gave it to me as a Christmas gift. It was cute, lots of pictures though.

Our weekends aren't really typical, nothing about our lives are typical. We never know what is going to happen. It usually starts out at the bar but who we wind up meeting up with or where we end up, what time we come home, etc. All remains to be seen.

I'd love to go to Turkey with my father in law.

I spend a lot of time thinking no matter what I am doing.

He is the Natty Bo mascott. It is a local beer. I have no idea why he only has one eye, often wondered that myself...

I've probably walked a lot of miles in my life. I've only just recently forced myself to get over my fear of driving. Turns out, I am awesome at parallel parking (a must living in the city).

A sugar glider is a marsupial indigenous to Indonesia and Australia. It is a bit like a flying squirrel because it has flaps that extend from wrist to foot so that it glides from tree to tree.

Attachment 14808

Miss Sadie Jane- miniature schnauzer
Jack- mutt
Owen- toy poodle
October (Toby)- mackerel brown tabby
Nani- sugar glider

Sunsets.

Yes I do, but not as often as I'd like. I more often zone out into my own little world.

Wine, some sort of pasta dish (I'm really into avocado-pesto pasta right now), salad, fresh baked home made rolls and cheesecake with fruit compote for dessert.

I have a ton that are favorites from childhood such as; Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, Drop Dead Fred... then I have the favorites I accumlated over time later on like; Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Big Lebowski, Office Space Then there are the essentials I started watching and fell in love with; Wait Until Dark, The Misfits, Gone With the Wind, Niagra, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Sabrina, Seven Year Itch.

I really like horror movies and zombie flicks.

My favorite music is music with a message to which I can relate. Something that moves me. I listen to all genres but if you were to look through my CD collection it would appear I favor strong women with beautiful voices and brilliant lyrics.

Hmmm, probably girls because I am capable of irrational jealousy so I scope the competition I suppose. But I don't check out guys.

My boyfriend asked me this when we were in line at Disneyland. I answered girls too, I think most guys and girls check out women, usually girls are comparing.
