Here is another version of this recipe that an Indian friend of mine sent.

This is suitable for vegetarians (not vegans).

Cream of wheat (1 cup)
Onion (1/4 ½)
Peas (if available)
Green pepper (1-2)
Ginger (tiny piece)
Urad daal (1-2 spoons)
Channa daal (1-2 spoons)
Mustard (1/2 spoon)
Water (2-2/12 cups)
Oil and butter (need quite a bit)

Warm the oil in a pan. Add urad daal, channa daal, mustard, chopped green pepper, chopped onions, and chopped ginger. When the seasoning is golden brown, add the water, butter/oil, salt to taste, peas. Once the water is boiling, add slowly the cream of wheat and keep stirring so that there are no lumps.

Note: You can also cook it with tomatoes (2 tomatoes for one cup). But if you are using tomatoes, do not use ginger.
