Alleged terrorist-group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is urging Congress to discharge animal conscriptees from Military service.

"In addition to human troops, the U.S. military is using chickens, dogs, dolphins, pigeons, and sea lions to fight the war in Iraq. The Navy is using dolphins and sea lions to find mines, and the Army and the Marines were using chickens (they all died as no one knew how to care for them in the heat and sand) and are now using pigeons to detect the presence of biological and chemical weapons. Dogs have been shipped over to detect weapons. But wars are human endeavors. While a person, a political party, or a nation may decide that war is necessary, animals should not be dragged into and killed in our conflicts, especially when there are more efficient, technologically sophisticated alert and detection systems. Please write to your representatives today and ask them to relieve the animals of their duties."
