hmmmmmmmmm

wondering if anyone else ever hears a voice in thier held yelling 'protien'!

these are the moments that i fear my decisions, despite all rationality, and i guess i need some help on some fast fix-it vegan stuff for these moments...

what gives you that quick protein fix?!

anything fast or recipe-oriented, doesn't matter, because i do get stuck for ideas being a broke busy person! oooh, and i am in oz, so some quick supermarket things may not be applicable!

cheers dears!

It depends how organized you are, but usually it won´t take more than 20-30 minutes to prepare something to fix your protein cravings.

*Peanut butter and pickles (protien + a bit of sweet. Great combo IMO ).

*Hummus and tortilla chips, or hummus and veggies.

*beans and rice (extra fast if you have leftover rice).

*nuts and seeds or nut butters with whole grain bread.

Is this protein thing something you are imagining?

Unlike carbohydrates which are used for immediate fuel, protein is used more slowly to build things your body needs, and it seems unlikley that your body would ever need a sudden burst of protein or have a true protein craving under normal conditions. It seems one would need to be in protein deprivation for a significant amount of time before one would really physically notice anything.

This is just my lay opinion, please correct me Lothar if I am incorrect.

I've been building muscle recently cause I started biking (Viva La Bicycle!) and was really jonesing for proteins, so I know what you're talking about.

I crave soy products more than any other thing. Tofu, soy milk...Nuts will also do it for me, especially cashews !!

I, too, go mainly for soy... For a quick snack, roasted soy nuts are great. Also just consider traditional nuts, though some are much fattier than soy.

I go for tofu or chickpeas when I am in need for a quick protein fix. I love peanut butter and all things nuts, but I am allergic so I have to eat them sparingly.

I find I feel the best when I eat two meals a day that include a good source of protein (generally this is lunch and dinner). They usually include the types of things already mentioned above.

I usually find myself needing a concentrated source of protein in the morning, and again in the afternoon.

my favorite quick fix is a slab of baked tofu (1.59 in the refrigerated section of our HFS) or a veggie burger patty, no bun.
