tonight we ran out of soy milk and the kids were already in their jammies and i didn't want to have to cart them all the way to the store to get more.

but the baby won't go to sleep without having her evening bottle first. i tried water and it was a no-go.

being the creative genius that i am, i concocted a quick milk-type substance for her bottle by combining water, tahini, maple syrup, a bit of flax oil and a dash of salt and shaking it up really well.

she drank it, she loved it, she nodded right off.

i'm so smart.

yeah, i gave it a taste-test before handing it over and it was pretty good. tahini has sort of a bitter-ish aftertaste but the maple syrup covered it up alright. i can't believe it took me this long to figure that out.

the only thing i'd say that wasn't quite "right" about it was the tahini didn't really emulsify too well in the cool water, but i suppose if you had the time (ie. didn't have a screaming infant in your arms) you could heat it up slightly just to get it to melt a little better into the water.

That sounds yummy, Kreeli. I think I'll try that just to see.
