The announcement Sunday of four more U.S. military deaths in Iraq raises the death toll to 2,974 for U.S. military service members in Iraq and in what the Bush administration calls the war on terror.

The 9/11 attack killed 2,973 people, including Americans and foreign nationals but excluding the terrorists. The 9/11 death toll was calculated by CNN.

Hm. There was a story here recently, talking about how the length of the action in Iraq had now surpassed that of American involvement in Europe during WWII. The Pacific theatre date will be passed sometime in December.

Bush started the Iraq war based on calculated lies. He should have stayed the course and arrested Bin Laden, but he let Bin Laden get away by turning his attention to invading Iraq. For what? Oil?

Now Bush says the next president will have to clean up the mess Bush started.

I have been voting for over 45 years, and this is the first president I actually despise. Bush will go down in history as the worst, most destructive, most murderous president the U.S. ever had.

Somebody should send that quote to GW. But wait - he doesn't read!

In part that would depend on how one calculates involvment time.

If one compared the actual combat time of the 2 wars and then compares the actual time of rebuilding/reestablishing national gov'ts we haven't even come close to spending the same amount of time in Iraq.

Then again terrorism has been an on going issue for a few decades now while Nazi Germany was an issue for a few yrs; not to mention the Japanese Empire of the 30's.

Very different kinds of wars.
