Take a look at these strips clipped from today's LA Times:<br><br><br><br>
Vegan:<br><br><br><br><a href="http://home.pacbell.net/epski/crankshaftvegan.jpg" target="_blank">http://home.pacbell.net/epski/crankshaftvegan.jpg</a><br><br><br><br>
Tofu:<br><br><br><br><a href="http://home.pacbell.net/epski/cathytofudogs.jpg" target="_blank">http://home.pacbell.net/epski/cathytofudogs.jpg</a><br><br><br><br>
They're not all that funny (how often are the funnies funny these days, anyway?), but I guess this means veganism and tofu really are hitting the mainstream now.

In the first one, the vegans portrayed are very thin looking. I dunno what this is supposed to mean. Anywya, it's quite good, making fun of how some people don't know what a vegan is.<br><br><br><br>
The second one is quite cool, and I find it funny how there are so many healthy options and then there's an "even healthier one" Well, I laughed anyway!

Mmm... I want some fat-free, egg-free, potato-free potato salad. Sounds delicious. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/grin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":D">

I think the image of vegans (in view of the recent trend) is that they are skinny, well-off trend-hoppers. You get that idea from their clothes and car, particularly in a strip like Crankshaft.

I liked em both. I saw the Cathy strip in our paper, but we don't carry Crankshaft. Someone once emailed me after seeing my website "GayVegan.com" asking if I'd write an article about what it's like being gay in Las Vegas. Umm, I've never been to Las Vegas. lol.

Wouldn't it be nice (in a perfect world) to get a veggie comic thing going (like Dilbert - complete with mousepads and talking dolls)

I've been working on something like this, starting from the merchandising side, though, to actually earn some money and see if there's a market, then working on syndicating a national daily strip, but that's a ways off for me. I have about 19 other projects ahead of that one at the moment.

Why don't you start a comic about the adventures of a vegetarian pimp with an attitude problem? <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/pimp.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":tame:">

Tame, we already have you represented in comic strips. Don't you read Garfield? <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/wink3.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=";)">
