This stuff is really good, to me anyway. My ex-gf used to make it. When I moved, I made a whole pot of it. It got me all the way from Arizona to Illinois. (33 hour drive) Of course...I haven't had it since, heh.

Here's what you need, it's really simple:

- a can of Tuno (or tube, or other vegan tuna, if it exists)

- vegan mayonaise (the only times I've had it were with veganaise, but this time I bought Nayonaise, but haven't made it yet)

- pasta (a couple cups worth, depending on the type of pasta)

- veggies! (I use frozen mixed veggies, it's the easiest)

That's it! Now all you do is cook the pasta and drain, cook the veggies (and drain), and mix them together. Add the Tuno and mix it with v-mayonaise. Keep adding more until it looks right to you.

It's "meant" to be eaten cold, but it's fine warm as well. I stuffed my ziplock-bowls full of it, and kept them in the cooler on the trip, it was great!

I'm gonna go to my mom's house sometime soon and make a whole bunch, maybe my grandparents will come too. They're all Omnis, and can't understand what on earth is wrong with me...but that's another thread.

That sounds good and easy! I make one similar. That Tuno is good used that way.

There are some fabulous vegan meats at Asian markets. The most incredible "ham," "fish," and "shellfish" you can imagine.

Have you ever shopped at one?

I don't get out much, so no. I don't even go to the store very often...that's why I eat so much frozen/dry stuff. I don't exactly have a "kitchen" either, so...yeah.

You don't get out often? A recluse or a misanthrope?

And what does that have to do with a banana?

I've seen Tuno in my local HFS, but I think I might be afraid of it. How much like actual tuna does it look like? Howz about the smell/taste? I have no aversion to fake meat, but Tuno seems pretty hardcore to me. But, I'm willing to try anything (vegan, that is), and that pasta salad does sound mighty good. It's hard for something NOT to taste good if it's slathered in Veganaise though.

Hi, Quizeen!

It does look like tuna. The texture is heavier though, but it doesn't effect it that much or make it necessarily a negative. It's very meaty. The smell, to me isn't fishy. As a matter of fact, I usually add ground up kelp to add an ocean-y flavor. I would guess that people who don't like the fishy-ness of real tuna would like it though! I think the flavor and texture are good, but, like I said, it's not very fishy.

I understand your apprehension! It actually sounded very gross to me. It took me a while to get up the nerve to try it. If anything, you'll be surprised at how mild it is.

It's excellent in something like pasta salad or tuno salad sandwiches because of the veganaise It definitely needs stuff added to it; alone it wouldn't cut it!

Heh, kinda both actually. The subtitle and my icon are completely unrelated. The icon is actually a picture of my BED. Here's a bigger pic if anyone cares, I love it:

http://www.extremespin.com/pics/home.../bedbanana.jpg

Of course when I actually sleep on it it's on its side, like this:

http://www.extremespin.com/pics/home...eld/BtBbed.jpg

Care to share why you're a misanthrope and a recluse?

This isn't very food related is it!

Oh, I don't know...bad experiences with multiple people close to me has left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm a big computer geek, which is why I don't go out much. I'd rather be on my computer...all the time. It's a lot cheaper when you never go anywhere, too. I don't have a car anymore anyway, so that's why I can't go to the store often. I really hate restaurants and movie theaters, which seems to be a "big thing to do." I live with one of my best friends, so it's not like I'm locked in a dark room and never see *anyone*. I just have so much stuff to do, it's a waste of time going anywhere. Ok, I think I'll stop now.

Uhh...to get back on the subject of food...I just went to the store last night, and got two bags of oranges for 89 cents each, and bananas, and a mango! YUM!

Mmmm, mangoes! Whoo hoo, summer's comin'! I swear, I eat too much damn fruit! Good think I inherited good teeth. I made a plum pie last night. Came out gooooooood. I rarely eat sweet stuff though, unless it's fruit. I just love to cook and bake. I usually give most of it away.

My friend has never tasted a mango before, so I just _had_ to get one! My mom used to buy a lot of mangos, I always loved them.

Pie...yum. I wish I had a kitchen and stuff...I would definitely cook more stuff. I mostly cook stuff in my toaster oven and my little "hot pad" range thingy. It only takes half an hour to boil water!
