I thought this might make a few people around here happy to hear...

I am going to try out vegan eating.

I am going to start with being a weekday vegan to avoid awkwardness with weekend activities. We'll see where it goes from there. I am nearing almost a year from the time I started being a vegetarian, so I think now is a fitting time to try vegan-style eating.

Wish me luck. Finding vegetarian foods has become second nature to me over the past year and I'm sure it could be that way for me eventually if I cut out dairy and eggs.

That is the key. Being willing to give it enough time til all of a sudden you find it has become second nature to you.

OT: The title of this thread reminds me of Burger King's slogan and I assumed this thread was going to be about Burger King.

I started easing into a vegan diet after being a vegetarian for about a year as well. I am so glad that I did it!

Good luck!

Good luck! Do you know www.theppk.com and www.vegweb.com yet? They're great resources for recipes! I live off Vegweb recipes, essentially

More power to you!

So true! I was a vegetarian for ages before going vegan, and when I did it I did it really slowly. I tried going cold tofurky a few times at first but that's just not how my brain works, I need to ease into things or I don't stick with it. So then I was a strict vegetarian for about 6 months and ate mostly vegan except for a few cheese binges, and then everything just fell into place. I was getting a lot of support from Veggieboards and I had met some vegan friends in real life and I petted some real live dairy cows, there was no going back at that point, it really does become second nature. Now I' just think: "I really used to eat cheese?"

In the end I don't think there is a right or wrong way to do it, YOU know what works best for you. Congratulations on making such an awesome decision!

Okay, so... restaurant eating is really tough!

It can be a little tedious, but I've always manage to get something. I ask for pasta with a simple tomato/veggie sauce, fries, salad, pizza without cheese, baked potato with veggies. And that's for places that aren't too accomodating to vegans

I usually try to go with pizza without cheese, many places have pizza.

Yes, resturant eating IS hard, but you can do it! Try looking at the menu before hand to plan out what you're going to eat.

Ethnic restaurants are easy. I try to go for ethnic or vegan when possible, but just about anywhere can make you something. You just have to be a little creative with what's available.
