I am to be going to New York with my high school band and I'm not sure what to do about food I am a [newish] vegan. I also have a vegan friend so we will be eating together. We will be on the road for 2 of the 5 days of the 5 day trip. We have a tight leash kept on us during trips like these so we don't have much freedom when it comes to food. I'm okay with the travel on uthe way there I can take my lunch but on the way back there will likely only be fast food...[ick]So any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank y'all.
Maybe you could pack more food to take along that will keep? Like canned beans, raisins, peanuts, apples, etc to supplement the lack of real food at the fast food joints. Don't cave in, hold the faith. Just go into McDonnlads, get a crummy salad, sit down and say "Oh gee, look what I found in my coat pocket, yum." Good luck to you and your friend.
I was in NY almost 2 months ago, I had no problem finding vegan food... wherever me and my then boyfriend went, I always found something vegan, and everywhere we went were very accommodating to my vegan needs. However, I had freedom to roam about and go to restaurants etc..
But yeah, I agree w/packing as much of your own food as possible. Hopefully you all will stop at Taco Bells and fast food places that have at least one vegan option.
I didn't think of peanut butter sandwitches being able to last out of the fridge but peanut butter for a week...I wouldn't be able to eat it for a month afterwards.I'm thinking mabye some ramen style noodles in the mic. .We could order a pizza at the hotel if its anything like marching band.
