I bought some stuff from TJ's this past weekend and one of the was a pack of dried mango, cranberries and blueberries - named Triple Fruit Treat. What could be bad about that? I didn't even bother to check the ingredients (especially considering all the other things I got from them that day had vegan symbols on them). Well, today I glanced at the ingredients (after eating some yesterday). It contains glycerin. I checked out their vegan & vegetarian pdf sheets of their products and this one isn't on them. I'm afraid this pack of dried fruit doesn't contain vegetarian friendly glycerin.

Trader Joe's - you let me down. Something that should absolutely be vegan isn't even vegetarian? Come on!

No I didn't contact them yet, but I do plan to. But there is no glimmer of hope. I looked it up online (various websites) and the package had no indications about it being veg*n. I bought a lot of their name brand products this weekend and they all had the word vegan on them except this one. If I get a response from them about this, I will post it in this thread.

I'm glad it is vegetarian after all I wouldn't have even considered that their dried fruit was not vegetarian! I guess this is just a good reminder to check and double-check every label!

When I read this, I was shocked! Most Trader Joe's products are veg*n, so for dried fruit not to be, was a bit weird. Glad to hear you can finish eating it now

I'd recommend editing the title of this thread and updating the first post so people don't get confused when they do google searches.

I would never of thought of GLYCERIN being an ingrediaent in dreid fruit! I always check the dried-fruit labels for added sugar and junk anyways.
I always thought dried cranberries tasted waxy. Blegh.

Me, too. I admit, it was quite tasty and hard to resist while waiting for a response.

Quote:

I don't have the power to edit the title. If a mod wants to intervene and maybe add something like "resolved: it is vegetarian", that would be awesome.

Quote:

Me, neither! That's why I didn't bother checking the ingredients. It's just fruit, I thought.
