It is a myth that Adolf Hitler was a vegetarian.

Not what I've heard. He went veggie after his niece commit suicide and that meat remiinded him of her corpse. Oh and I think health reasons played a big part in his decision as well.

Something tells me Adolph Hitler was not grossed out by corpses or death.

I can't remember the book I was reading that addressed that recently...it said that it was really a nazi propoganda ploy to make him seem asthetic and pure. Vegetarianism or, at least groups, were banned during the nazi occupation.

Either way, regardless of whether or not he was vegetarian (I'm going with not) it's irrelevant. Obviously omnivores have done atrocious things.

I wouldn't say he's a "famous vegetarian" though. More like infamous brute. I never even heard of the vegetarian hitler thing until just this past year. Silly. He's not really a celebrity in any real way that the word is most often used either.

Was Hitler a vegetarian? was one of the first questions I asked on VB. It really made me anxious to think that he could be.

Does it really matter if he was? Youre bound to get the odd bad apple in any sub-group of society. It just happens that he was perhaps the most evil apple in history.

I dont think that there should be any connection between this evil and his vegetarianism.

Kidding. It must've been one of the books I grabbed recently. Maybe the living with meat eaters book seeing as how I don't think it was the John Robbins one.

I should think a celebrity vegetarian, though, would be someone who used their celebrity to show the world what being a veg*n means. Also, yes, if you're discussing "celebrity vegetarians" it DOES matter if they were actually a vegetarian.

The very first time I heard of veganism was when I was watching a show that featured Moby a while back. They didnt go in depth but I remember being sort of fascinated by it.

I don't know of many other celebrity veg*ns.

If you are going to include him in your list of top 5 famous vegetarians, it does matter.
