Which variety are you eating - the Mozarella (light yellow) or the American flavour (dark yellow/orange)? I MUCH prefer the Mozarella, and enjoy it both cold and melted. I have to say I am not really into the American flavour, it tastes too buttery or fatty or something!

Where I live we can only get the American style (small country town)

Bummer. That one is ok, but the Mozarella is much nicer. Maybe you could request that the shop you currently get the American flavour from also order in the Mozarella one? Many shops are willing to do that. Or maybe you can convince them to stock the Mozarealla one instead?

I think they're better melted. Also, just a little bit of salt seems to improve their flavor- don't know if that's healthy advice or not.

Australia doesn't have daiya

Toffuti slices taste better to me toasted/melted and with other ingredients. For example, a grilled cheez sandwich with other things added such as hummus, tomato slices, avocado, spinach, lettuce, sprouts, olives, pickles, etc., take your pick.
We usually have soup with them too and I like to dip before I munch.

I never liked cheese cold, when I was vegetarian, with the exception of feta and Gouda. Everything else, for the most part, needed to be melted. Maybe small cold pieces in a salad, but that was it.

As a vegan, I'm finding all my soy cheeses need to be melted. I quite like both the Tofutti mozza and American slices, melted on burgers or other types of sandwiches.

I also had a choice between the mozzarella and the cheddar style, and picked the cheddar. I'm just hoping beyond hope that I'm weird and like them :p
Yeah, I was disappointed to see that so many people aren't crazy about them. I love them, personally. Not something I eat often, but it's delicious on top of a veggie burger.

That's exactly how I had it. Put it in the oven so it melted, piled the burger high with mushrooms, bit of ketchup... delicious

I usually fry up the burgers on one side, flip them and put the cheese on top so it warms up a little. Sometimes after this I take the frying pan and hold it in the oven, set to broil. The cheese slices melt pretty fast.
Top it with ketchup, mustard, and pickles. Mmm, mushrooms sound awesome, too.
