Hi All,

I've just recently gone vegetarian - This is my tenth day and I have to say I don't miss meat at all. In fact, I had a dream last night that the family was having pizza, and I didn't have any because it had ham on it. So proud.

Anyway, having wanted to try tofu for YEARS, I finally got some a couple days ago. I tried a sort of tofu stirfry, which worked out okay, and then a tofu/potato and veggie burger, which turned into scrambled tofu/potato and veggies, but still, very nice. My mother had some and was raving about how good it was.

My point is (yes, believe it or not, I DO have a point), what's the goss on tofu? Nutritional information, fat content, decent recipes, whatever. I told myself I'd like it if it killed me, because how cool would it be ?

"Do you want a hamburger, Veggo?"

"No thanks, I've got my own."

"What's in it?"

"Tofu. MMM."

"Huh?"

(sigh).

Anyway, any replies will be appreciated.

Gnarly - Good on you that you found you like Tofu. It's a good source of high quality protein - and very versatile (fry it, bake it, grill it, make a sauce with it, make pudding with it, etc. etc.)

Forget tofu. Try paneer. It's all the rage in India. . sort of like the Indian version of tofu, except it's farmers cheese (no rennet, of course).

More tastier, too!

I really love tofu now, it takes on the flavors of anything you cook with it. It is the most versitile thing I have cooked with. I am going to make a mock-chicken dish with it this week. I have my tofu in the freezer now...
