I spent all summer make-up-less, but now that my shred of tan is long gone I need some color. And I'm very lazy. I just want a tinted balm to smear onto my lips and cheeks.

Needs to be in stick form because I spend most of most of my days up to my armpits in the excrement of various and assorted animals so I don't want anything I have to use my finger to apply.

And I don't want anything with a big fancy girly wand-y thing, b/c I want the 1 & 3/4 attractive men in my county to think I just look like this naturally (don't worry, the 1 is my husband. ) I want like chapstick only vegan and tinted.

I know hemp organics or some-such-other made tinted vegan balm but apparently it is no longer vegan (and I don't want to buy the last available tubes because 1). I don't want to get attached and 2). I'm mad at them.) Any recommendations?

thanks!

Ohh! I have this great stuff. It's from the Merry Hempsters (or is that who you were talking about?), and it says Vegan Hemp Balm on the front. There are several different flavors, and each is tinted a little differently (I think). I got the mandarin orange & it works/tastes great.

I *adore* Merry Hempsters vegan balm!

Never seen a tinted formula, though? The stuff I have is clear with just the right amount of sheen....if that exists in tinted form, I will be a happy girl. Thanks!

You could try this:

Lip and cheek tint (like Benetint)

45g (1 1/2 oz) raw beetroot, grated

3 TB vegetable gycerine

Put the ingeredients in a double boiler and heat fro 15 minutes. Cool and then strain out the beetroot and pour into a small clean bottle. Shake before use then apply a dab to your cheeks blending well. Can be used as a lip gloss too to provide a bit of natural colour--but slick on a bit of clear after to help you rub your lips together. This will give you an all natural just got back from the seaside rosy glow.

Ooh, sounds fun! This is a really stupid question, but is 'raw beetroot' just, like, a beet?

Yes--beetroot in UK is beet in US.

I've not made this myself because I don't like the smell of beets but a friend swears by it. She says it is the best thing she's ever used. But to me it pongs.

got it....thanks! just wanted to make sure i wasn't supposed to be looking for some special cosmetic grade beet or anything

i don't so much mind the smell....don't love it, don't hate it.....but i wonder if it will be a little crazy-pink for me. i wonder if terrible things would happen if i added a little turmeric or something to tone it down...

ooh, crazy rumors is tinted? did not know that. i've always wanted to order some b/c it sounds yummy, but i thought it was clear & i've been happy enough with my merry hempsters (which i can buy locally) not to bother. but if it's tinted, well, i simply must have it

any recommendations on color/flavor? ideally i'd like to have something kinda mocha-y & something kinda rosy....

thanks!

It is more a strawberry tint not a bright colour. If you can get some alkanet root you can infuse that in oil and add a bit to aloe vera gel to make a cheek tint. So you might could infuse the beet into oil and add that to aloe vera gel as well.

Well, it's sort of tinted. Definitely more tinted than Merry Hempsters. I have tried the coffee bean and the hazelnut. They taste nice.

I don't know if it's actually supposed to be tinted or not, lol, but if get too far off of my lips there is a bit of color.

Hey spidergrrl, you got me interested again in looking for some new recipes for home made skin care products. I love to make just about anything I can for myself from natural products. So, this is a place that I usually buy ingredients that I cannot grow myself, they have great recipes available as well. www.cranberrylane.com
