We have had 2 donations that will cover the Rabies & Combo tes/vax...

THANK YOU!!!!

We desperately need $5/Day for her boarding until our March 10 Transport up north...

that is $135...

We are hoping she settles down and will be adoptable...if not our Rescue has a wonderful free roaming for ferals...she will be well cared for either way...

Yaysyho! It's good news but I can't help feeling a little sceptical though...how do we know this was genuine? I hope it was. Why would they be gassed anyway rather than put down by injection - is this common?

The Winging Cat Rescue is a licensed rescue in Georgia. They mainly work on trying to save animals from a pound that still uses gas chambers as their way of "euthanasia". You can read more about them here http://www.myspace.com/savethekittiesinc and here http://www.savethekitties.org/

I looked into these alerts, and they seem to be legit so far. There is a Spalding Count Animal Shelter in GA where you can see these animals. The animal shelter website links here but not to savethekitties.

I hate the euphamistic language they use on the page:

PLEASE NOTE: The selection of animals we have available changes daily due to several factors. We have new animals arrive everyday; and animals we have are either adopted or their scheduled time to be available for adoption reaches its end.

I sent an email to savethe kitties asking for a link that verifies their non-profit status, or that they are licensed or something, just so people will be more likely to donate.

I think it is in larger shelters where they put down a lot of animals per day, they gas them all at once rather than spending time to put them down individualy. I saw a video of it once and that image is forever burned in to my brain. It is a horrible process!

I find these alerts depressing. Even the thread titles catch my eye and put a downer on things. There is nothing I can do, I live in the wrong country and my money already goes to animals here. Is there any way of blocking the alerts? There seems to be one every couple of days at least.

I'm guessing the OP is fostering them or works at the shelter? I don't know. When I fostered cats and was looking for homes for them I altered people in my area to that fact. Those cats were no more "special" than any other cat.

I wouldn't want you to stop posting them if it has been helping rehome some animals. I just find seeing the thread titles "3 cats euthanised" and the like depressing.

I was wondering that too actually.
My guess would be that she is helping animals she has access to. I dont think that makes them special but she is trying to help the animals she can. Drop in the bucket certainly, but if she saves 5 out of the thousands I consider it a good thing.
