Those outside of bars hotdogs are trying to kill me!

I went out with some friends last night and when we left the club they had one of those little hot dog stands that just smell soooooooo good when you've been drinking. None of my friends are veggie so they all got them. I used to LOVE these things, and it was so hard hard to take a bite. I guess I am just venting here because those hotdogs covered with cream cheese and grilled onions smelled so great.

Drinking causes that a lot with me, too. Hot wings is my drunken craving....oh yah.
When im drunk im more likely to start ranting on about dead animals rather than want a bite. haha
Maybe some of the hot dog stands you used to frequent have veggie-dogs? Or, you could get the bun with all the hot dog fixings put in it? I used to do that when I first went veggie. I'd go to fast food places and get a burger with all the burger fixings, minus the meat patty. Helps your cravings more than you think!

I've never done the burger-minus-meat, but most of the time, your cravings are for the seasonings/toppings.

Always, always keep an energy bar, a granola bar or a small pack of peanuts in your purse so you have something to munch.

I'm a total weirdo. I used to work at McDonals, and before I went vegan I LOVED the steak egg and cheese bagel sandwich. So, I made my own vegan version. I grilled the onions in the morning before I put the steak down, sprinkled the steak seasoning on the onions, and fixed the bagel up like you would for the steak sandwich. I did the same thing with a Gardenburger Riblet. I made myself a McRib sandwich lol!

I've never had a problem with cravings really, but if you can't stop them then think about how gross and unhygenic those stalls tend to be.

Even as an omni I wouldn't eat from them =/

Also, like Poppy said, keeping snacks with you is always a good idea as you can't garantee everywhere you go will have veggie/vegan food.
Hot dogs?? Yuck... all that crap that's in there... I'd rather crave chicken nuggets.

I often crave Chicken nuggets. Fortunately, Veggie patch Buffalo Chikn nuggets (or something like them), do wonders to soothe my cravings.
oh, 'street meat'...ive been in that place many times, my friend hahaha...ive been veg for a year now so the meat cravings seem to have stopped, because in all honesty i cant really remember what it tastes like (weird as that is).

I had a similar thing saturday night, after the bar we went to a pizza place and I'm transitioning off dairy so I couldnt have anything, but I was drooling all over the place while my friends ate hahaha.

So I'm not the only one?? lol I have a few friends that often talk to me about vegetarianism. When I'm sober, I'm fine and do well even if it's confrontational. I'm really really close with this one couple and if we're drinking together... it gets really funny. He's always debated vegetarianism with me and after a few drinks I just shut him down with the knowledge. We're super close though and he still loves me
lol

I get drunk and crave peanut butter and pepperoni. Yeah.... I know it sounds gross.

I'd jack a McRib bun from work because they are vegan, put my riblet on it, then add the pickles and onions that usually go on the McRib on my vegan version. I actually made one up with a riblet and gave it to a co-worker along with a regular McRib, he couldn't figure out which one was the fake one.

Well, last night I was wasted, so my boyfriend and I came home and made: onion rings, french fries, artichoke and cream cheese frozen tacos and Morningstar Buffalo Chik'n. I tried to make him eat most of it so I wouldn't feel like a fatty...but there are definitely still ways to satisfy drunk cravings that don't involve meat.

The funny thing is, I used to love steak and shun street meat, but now I think the street cart would be the hardest thing for me if I were craving something, because it's so impulsive practically thrives on people giving in to cravings.

sweet! ill have to try it, though i wont snatch a mcd's roll. ever. haha.

and im with you guys on the pizza cravings. there really is nothing like a giant thin crust, new york style slice....dang.
I never even used to eat from those street hotdog stands even when I was omni! Their standards of hygeine leave a lot to be desired!!!!!! I remember watching a programme on tv about them once and the amount of them who don't handle meat properly (e.g. mixing cooked meat with raw meat) and drop meat on the floor and just pick it back up and sell it was unbelievable!!! Disgusting!!!

Ehh...I've watched the hot dog guy in my town cook before. He's a really nice, clean guy. I just wish he'd start carrying veggie dogs. I've also seen him throw out hot dogs that have been sitting too long. He usually just gives them to his dog.
I've been out with friends after a night at the bar and they'll get some really great smelling NY style pizza. Oh how I loved a plain slice of thin crust cheese pizza. So my cravings go haywire. Usually I'll end up getting fries to at least quench my hunger which pretty much satifies any craving I had for the pizza. For me, after a night of drinking I now crave fried foods, which is usually fries since all other fried stuff (onion rings, fried mushrooms) has egg in them.

Ugh... were you being sarcastic?

Hot Dogs are to Pork what Chicken Nuggets are to Chicken. All the left over scraps of the chicken are shredded and remade into nuggetty goodness.
