Okay so I'm going on the Europe trip with my class in about 18 months. I know a vegetarian who is also going and she parades her vegetarianism to be cool or whatever (we live in a small town and we are the only two vegetarians in our school, I just moved here) but back to the story. So she is always talking about how she is a vegetarian because she loves animals and hates the idea of eating rotting flesh and stuff. Today she texted me saying "for the Europe trip I'm going to eat meat, but just for that week then I'll be a vegetarian again".<br>
This riled me up, I've been a vegetarian for about four years now and I was about to tear her a new one. What is the point of being a vegetarian for animal rights if you just plan on eating meat again? I don't know why this got under my skin so much I just can't understand why she would stop being a vegetarian because we are in Europe. What do you guys think?

I think i would tell her exactly how I think.<br><br><br>
-note: I'm very straight forward, and when I think people are being stupid, I tell them.<br><br><br>
Except on VB, because if you do that on here they yell at you -_-

Honestly I'd probably call them out on it next time they parade around their vegetarianism. I also call people out.<br><br>
Them: "Oh yeah, I'm such a good person. I love animals and I don't eat them."<br>
Me (in a dry, sarcastic tone): "Yeah, you are really going to show them how much you love them when you eat their rotting flesh in Europe. I wish I could be as good of a vegetarian as you."

Maybe she thinks that it would be too much of an inconvenience?

I think some people think you can't have as good an experience in other countries if you don't eat the food, a lot of which is meat. Vegetarianism obviously isn't particularly important to her if she's willing to do something she berates others for doing the rest of the time, and in fact even planning to do it. It'd be one thing to slip up, but planning so far in advance to do it just shows a lack of caring. I'd talk to her about it if I were you. It's not for another eighteen months, so hopefully you'll be able to persuade her not to do it by then. Either that or she'll drop the vegetarianism before the trip.
