I start with whole brown flax seed, blend it until it is powdery and broken up.
1 banana
handful of either organic kale, organic spinach or both
handful of Frozen melon, papaya, and cantelope
handful of frozen mixed fruit (peach, strawberry, blueberries, etc)
Couple tablespoons of fresh coconut meat
table spoon or 2 of raw cacao powder
t spoon of raw honey (I know I am a bad vegan. weening myself off of it though)

Blend until smooth and enjoy.

Am I missing anything?

What's your ultimate smoothie?

i use hemp seed too....4 gms of protein in 1 Tbsp! I rotate between chia, flax, and hemp seeds. they are all good sources of Omega 3s.

Good to know. I am only using flax because it is very cheap at my local grocery store. I've only seen hemp and chia at health food stores for more $.

I might have to try putting greens in my smoothie tomorrow.

This is usually how I make mine:

1 Cup soy milk
1 Banana
2 Tbs flax
1/4 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup mixed frozen berries

I was wondering about oats too. Does that affect the taste or texture in a negative way?

I don't thinks so, I kinda like the oats. I get more gritty texture from the small seeds in the raspberries, but I like those too. I also think the flax adds more bulk to the mixture than the oats do as well.

I love raspberries too, but I hate that the little seeds don't get pulverised in the vitamix!

I add freshly squeezed orange juice and calcium fortified soy milk.

I need to look into finding hemp seeds.
