hello

i'm from the northwest of England (so i know Stockport, clairebear - primarily as in the sentence "follow Stockport for Manchester airport" ), although my mum's side of the family are Welsh and i lived in Scotland for a few years, so I feel sort of generally 'British'.

I'm a geordie

I grew up in Northumberland (Hadrian's Wall Country), in the countryside near to Newcastle. I moved to East London a few years ago to be with the one I love so I have a strange mish-mash of an accent -- Southern accent, with a Geordie dialect! People round here know straight away that I'm a geordie, because of my dialect and my big smile

Loki, I remember going to Blackpool as a child to 'see the lights' but all I remember from that trip is our car breaking down and a load of locals helping us push it up a steep hill! Isn't the biggest rollercoaster in the UK in Blackpool?

Quote:

Newcastle has also got to be famous for the way the locals refuse to wear coats in the winter when out in the pubs and clubs.

Yep, and our nipples don't even get hard And of course, the never-ending devotion to the Toon Army. If you go out in Newcastle you can't walk five paces without seeing a Newcastle United shirt. Hehe, that damn geordie pride . . .

I love Norfolk! My parents live in Suffolk, my brother in Cambridge, so I get there occasionally.

Hmm. I guess I'm from Planet Vega (the Australian part) but living in the UK. Have been here for almost 3 years now. Lived in London, Glasgow, Manchester and now London again. However my girlfriend and I plan to move to Edinburgh for good, sometime this year. I can't wait - I adore Scotland. In fact I love the whole northern half of Britain. I like London too and it's great for a year or so, but I don't want to live in London long term.

I often go cycling in Essex though - it's beautiful.
