What can a person say, after reading this article? Sad, very sad.

http://www.msnbc.com/news/935201.asp

Sad article, but everyone knows that some few nations are overfishing the oceans which will sooner or later result in the extinction of many species. The problem is that not many people seem to care. I wish there was a way to wake them up

I've been shouting this at the top of my lungs for years. No one listens.

Just like me! Or sometimes people do listen, they put on a serious face and shake their heads, but then say that there's nothing they can do about it and the subject is over

Most people think that the little they can do means nothing, but it isn´t the case. Remember the butterfl´s flight in brazil and the storm in Texas? Everything anyone does matters. Maybe I´m an optimist, but I think the world isn´t a hopeless case.

Yeah, we can do what we can by ourselves, at least being a vegeterian. Suppose how many fishes we can save in our lives.

OH, I now am very proud of be a vegeterian, and we can tell other people to be vegeterian, the more vegeterian in this planet, the less overfishing will be.

I hate it when people say "Oh well, what can ya' do?" and go on living the way they always have.

Selfish, selfish.

People don't know how bad off the oceans are, and the thing is, the media won't come out with it, cause the fishing industry is so big--just like the cattle industry--that "all those people will lose their jobs". Well, all of those fish lose their lives, whether they're caught or not. If they're not caught for food, they die of disease from our pollutants. Fish swimming around with 3 eyes and 2 heads. ("Nonsense, Smithers. Everyone knows our mutants have flippers!")

Maybe I'll start saying to people who ask me why I don't still eat fish, I'll say "do you eat diseased, endagered fish?"

That's a good idea, I might do that myself.

You know, in Germany they show a lot of reports about how endangered the oceans are, the industry is not as powerful over here, I think. But people STILL don't care. They show how I-forgot-what-that-type-of-fish-is-called are being forced to produce caviar 4,5,6 times during their lives, and how they are being cut open and then sewed back up so they can produce more eggs, and people still buy the caviar. We have a lot of TV reports on the inhumane treatment of animals, and people still buy meat. I wish I could say they just didn't know better, but humans have this incredible ability to ignore the truth. It is really frustrating.

I hate lying awake at night thinking of these types of subjects..like how ignorant and selfish the human race is becoming. I hate how most of us assume that we are better than all other life forms on the planet...thus allowing us to completely take over and practically ruin the planet. The part that's the worst is they honestly don't give a shi*. They just ignore all the people telling them to stop and look at what they are doing..just because they have the power to pretty much say no and continue massacreing.

I just hate it and hate not being able to do anything about it.

Earth x Angel I totally agree. This is on my mind most of the time too. It's a lot to deal with, and (like earlier) sometimes it can be too much!

When I first became veggie, I still ate fish. This was because my parents were already annoyed about my choice not to eat meat, and think that vegetarians eat fish. So when the subject came up, I got that tone of voice that told me not to cross the line.. so I didn't. A few months later, once I was more confident in my vegetarianism, I put a stop to eating fish. They're still going on at me now, and trying to get me to eat it. They'll never change my mind though, not ever.

My Dad, the omni of all omnis, says that "everyone is overfishing". And yet he's still buying fish of all kinds and trying to get me to eat it. It's weird how people just don't give a ****.
