So are you planning to procreate, or planning not to?

Fair warning: the poll is a public poll. If you don't want people to know your personal answer, don't vote!

I started out with an array of 9 rather wordy options, but decided in favor of simplicity at the last minute.

Don't plan on having any kids. I have a nephew - that's enough for me

I am childfree so I chose 0. I see most procreation as a large use of earth's resources without a lot of justification. I believe we need to take a hard look at population control. Unfortunately, most parents don't think that way.

VHEMT is a good read about why procreation is harmful to the earth.

Well, the public poll feature doesn't seem to be working, so apparently it's going to be a standard non-public poll. I swear, it said it was a public poll before I voted!

Anyway, I voted 0 children. We've already taken permanent measures to make sure we stay child-free.

I voted 0 children. If I do ever have kids, I'd prefer to adopt.

My limit was 2, but I only had one. My wife had one before we got married, so each of us had one with other partners. Interestingly our sons introduced us when they were in first grade and kindergarten.

I've made sure that there's no more procrecation from me.

I have to admit, I didn't think to add -1 to the poll options...

I have 2 biological (10 and 14) and one non-biological (16). We're neutered now and plan to foster and maybe adopt after our oldest is out on his own and frees up a bedroom.

I voted 0. At the ripe old age of 47, I doubt I'll be makin' any babies anytime soon anyway.

BTW, Tess, the public poll feature IS working. At least on my computer.

How odd. Mine looks like the regular poll results, where I only see how many votes there have been for each option and a percentage. Is everyone else seeing the public results?

Quote:

Eh, I'm not sure killing someone else's baby is the same as having -1 children. Seems to me that to have -1 children, you'd have to take your genes out of the pool by killing your parents' children-- kill a sibling or commit suicide. Or go back in time and prevent your parents from ever having children to begin with, lol.

Are you actually clicking on the poll result numbers? That's how you get the public results. The numbers come up as links.

I think my interpretation of -1 would start from thinking that if +1 is one normal baby, then -1 baby must be an old man composed of anti-matter, or something like that.

I always thought that I would only adopt. Now, I've decided that I would like to have at least one biological child (think my age is catching up with me) plus adopt a couple...maybe foster some teenagers or something.

OIC. I get it now. I could have sworn I had viewed public poll results before without doing that.

I had two and we're very done.

If my second child had been healthy, we probably would have had at least one more.
