Okay, so it's 2 days before Valentine's Day..time to burn those last minute CDs
I posted a couple of days ago of my affection for How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You

So, what are the songs that make you swoon?

On my playlist:

In My Life...The Beatles

Wonderful Tonight..Eric Clapton

You Are the Sunshine of My Life...Stevie Wonder

Happy Together...The Turtles

At Last....Etta James

I Feel the Earth Move....Carole King

and of course,

Close to You...the Carpenters (sung loudly and with passion!)

My favorite line though, is this one from James Taylor's "Copperline":

Quote:
The first kiss, ever I took...like a page from a romance book...the sky opened and the earth shook...
Oh yeah, baby.

<<<sneaks away to find her love in a warm bed

Me and my fiance are huge Frank Sinatra fans, and our favorite song of his is probably "I've Got You Under My Skin", but there are *so* many others we love it's hard to pick just one... "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye is another favorite. Let's see... Guns N' Roses' "Patience", Extreme's "More Than Words", Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven", Aerosmith's "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing"...

Don't forget "Storybook Love"! Transports me back to my 5th grade crush... That song was worth the price of the whole CD. Back in the day before iTunes, of course.

If gonna get silly though, "Silly Love Songs" by Paul McCartney.

Definitely At Last by Etta James. Her version is the only one that moves me.

Others classics that we love include:

The Way You Look Tonight, By Frank Sinatra or Billie Holiday

It Had To Be You, by Frank Sinatra

Witchcraft, by Frank Sinatra

Can't Help Falling In Love, By UB40 or Elvis Presley (my SO likes the EP version better while I like UB40's version)

Unforgettable, by Nat King Cole and/or Natalie Cole

Wicked Game, by Chris Issac

And some non-conventional 'love' songs for my SO and I are:

Only Time, by Enya

We're In This Together, by NIN

Hey Jupiter, by Tori Amos (That's actually "our song" hehe)

The Perfect Drug, by NIN

Lovesong, by The Cure

I Miss You, by Blink182 (Neither of us like Blink182 but somehow this is one of "our songs")

Plainsong, by The Cure (my fav Cure song)

NIN's We're In This Together

"You and me

Were in this together now

None of them can stop us now

We will make it through somehow

You and me

If the world should break in two

Until the very end of me

Until the very end of you"

"Two Steps Behind" by Def Leppard.

"Heaven" by Bryan Adams.

"I'll Be Right Here Waiting" by Bryan Adams.

"Everything I Do [I Do It For You]" by Bryan Adams.

"I Believe In A Thing Called Love" by The Darkness.

"Beating Hearts Baby" by Head Automatica.

"She's In Love With The Boy" by Trisha Yearwood.

I know I have more ... I just have to rack my brain harder.

Nobody's mentioned anything by the Isley brothers yet?
Only about 1/2 of their catalog is devoted to sweet lovin'!

I will just name one specific song that pops to mind:

Be Without You by Mary J. Blige.

Our song is Where Peaceful Waters flow by Chris deBurgh

Always, she is standing by my side.

She's my inspiration,

she's my battle cry.

And in her arms is the only place I know

where peaceful waters flow.

But the song Spiderman used to propose to me 17 years ago this month was this one by the Sweet Comfort Band.

If I had a dime for every time

I've had you on my mind

They would stretch on down the highway

In an endless line

If I had a dime for everytime

I've thought about us two

I could buy myself a lifetime

Just to spend on you

And maybe you could care for someone

Just like me

Maybe you're in need of somone

Just like me

Now I told you how I hold you

In my highest esteem

I hope you don't disapprove of me

If I'm not what I seem

As a matter of fact

I've been holding back

The way I really feel

Cuz I've been afraid

Of what you might say

If my heart had been revealed

And maybe you could care for someone

Just like me

Maybe you're in need of somone

Just like me

Well, I'm no Knight in shining armor

I'm No prince charming, I agree

But what lack in might and valor

I'll make up in honesty

So, here I go

I will try to show

How much for you I care

But the value that I place in you

Is far beyond compare

You mean more to me

Than the eye can see

But your heart can understand

That I'm talkin of the kind of love

To a woman from a man

And maybe you could care for someone

Just like me

Maybe you're in need of somone

Just like me

Maybe deep inside you're feelin'

Just like me

And maybe you could marry someone

Just like me

*chuckle* if we're gonna get silly, nothing beats Dolly Parton's Marry Me (sung in "Dolly voice" of course)

I mean, how can you beat..."We'll hold hands, touch and hug. He talks so sweet to me. Cuz he knows a lot about love and stuff, and he's gonna marry me."
