don't let yourself get hungry! just keep drinking the lemonade any time you feel those pangs, even if you need to have some every 10 minutes. truly, that is the key to success.

good luck!

Thanks guys! Yeah, Kreeli, I remember what happened to you...that was scary. Well, I'm doing okay considering that it's 3pm on the second day, and I have a slight hunger throughout the day. It's not that bad....YET. Although I am craving food like a maniac. I've always loved food, and cooking.....but I never knew to just what extent until now. LOL. I'm thinking of making all kinds of soups and things and freezing them...and they will be my reward for when I'm through with this thing.

Okay, it's 8 am of the third day, and I'm doing okay. Last night was awful though...I cooked Indian lentils and rice to put in the freezer, and just smelling it was torture! All I could think about was food...luckily I'm not very hungry right now. I hope the non-hunger lasts!

It's 5:20 pm on the third day, and I'm still not too hungry like I was last night. There's just this slight hunger pain that is constantly looming.

oh man, i had to go lock myself in the bedroom at meal times. the smell of food, even just the sight of other people eating made me crazy for it, even though i wasn't really all that hungry. i don't know how you managed to cook food while cleansing. you are a stronger person than i.

how long are you planning to go with it?

Kreeli....apparently I'm insane because last night I also made "Spicy Creamy Tomato Soup", "White Bean Soup", "Spanish Rice", and "Chili"!! It's my incentive to keep going...I've frozen them and know that when I'm through with the fast, all prep work will be taken out of the cooking, and I can try these new recipes I've never had before. My brain works in strange ways. LOL. I'm planning on shooting for the full 7 days. If I ever decide to do this again, i'll try 10....and then maybe longer if I decide to do it again. Don't get me wrong...this is SOOOOO hard and takes a lot of will power, as I'm sure you well know. ARGH. VERY hard. I can't believe I even made it this far.

I'm on my fourth day!!! It's almost 4pm and I'm still only slightly hungry. I'm getting used to it. Today at work (I work in a health food store), there were free samples cut up of Uncle Eddie's Vegan cookies, and I grabbed one out of habit (they are there every Friday), and almost put it in my mouth. I then realised what I almost did and was shocked that I completely forgot. LOL. Those cookies taunted me for the rest of the day.

Birdlady....I'm following this cleansing fast called The Master Cleanser. It's a book, and it tells you exactly what to do step by step. It lasts from 7 to 10 days, although some people actually do it for a month! If you don't feel like hunting down the book, I could give you all the info myself. The book is only like $6 though.

Oh yeah....I have to try for 10 days, not seven. I just read that again. GRRRRRRR. I'm on my 6th day!!! I am not hungry in any way, and yesterday I only had 6 drinks. You have to drink anywhere from 6-12 a day.

Apple, that is the correct formula for the drink, however it doesn't give the information on the other things that you must do during the fast. For instance, you have to drink an herbal laxative tea the last thing at night...and in the morning you have to drink a full 4 cups of distilled water mixed with 1 tsp. of uniodized salt. The laxative tea has a loosening effect, while the salt water works as an internal bath, flushing stuff out. Believe me...make sure you're near the bathroom for this one. EW. It works within an hour of drinking it. Also, you're allowed the occasional mint tea for variety...and in case you have bad breath from toxins being released.

Grade C maple syrup is actually Grade B maple syrup. They changed it a while back and no longer make anything called Grade C. Basically the difference between A and B is that B is darker and contains more nutrients.

Another thing.....you have to gradually work yourself off this diet in a correct fashion...slowly and accurately, and the book tells you how to do that to.

It's 3 p.m. on the 7th day and I don't have an ounce of hunger. One thing that this fast is teaching me is to really appreciate food. I can't WAIT to eat again! Just to taste something would be marvelous. I have a feeling that I'll be able to eat healthier, like more raw foods and less junk food, after this. I have 3 more days to go. WOOHOO!

Herself-I know you're not doing this to loose weight but obviously you are going to. Any idea how much you've lost so far?

Thanks Kreeli! I'm actually breaking the fast tomorrow because I can't continue with this maple syrup. I have cavaties and I realised that it's just making it worse. Brushing my teeth hurts and now I'm actually scared to eat again because I bit down on a mushy piece of lemon pulp and it hurt soooo bad, just like when brushing my teeth. I suggest that if you plan on doing this, that you should rinse with mouthwash after EVERY drink. But I feel good that I got this far...it really does get easier at some point and I was truly going to go the full 10 days. I'm sure you can do it this time Kreeli! Good luck and please keep us all posted on your progress again.

MsRuthieB........I'm not sure that I lost any weight at all. The book says that some people actually GAIN weight on the fast depending on how much maple syrup they use. Same with losing weight...you can lose weight if you lose less syrup. I've been taking the amount that the book calls for and I don't have a scale anywhere around. The last time I checked (about a week before the fast) I weighted 140 lbs. I'll let you know just as soon as I get my hands on a scale. I would like to weigh 130 or 135 and I'm trying for that by working out (when I feel like it), and now I'll definately eat right after this fast.

Actually my mom thinks I'm nuts for doing this fast, and she was saying that any weight I lost would be a result of healthy tissue loss. She actually knows nothing about nutrition and eats worse than anyone I know on the face of the planet. LOL

Well, tomorrow I start breaking the fast with only orange juice to drink. WEEEEEEE! But I'm getting there, so I shouldn't be so negative about it. I'm actually excited

OH! This month of Energy Times magazine had an article about detoxing and a completely seperate article about food allergies and food intolerances. According to the magazine, the signs of toxin overload are: 1)acne 2)bad breath 3)constipation 4)eye irritation 5)frequent upper respiratory infections 6)headaches 7)indigestion 8)joint &muscle achiness 9)mood problems 10)nasal and/or sinus congestion 11)rashes 12)sleeplessness 13)sore throat

I had all of this except bad breath, upper respiratory infections, rashes, and sore throat. Especially headaches and sinus problems, I know that some of the headaches were sinus related but most of them aren't. I actually get migraines from time to time. I am known to have at LEAST one headache a week, and if I don't it's a miracle......well a miracle occured because I haven't had a headache this entire fasting time!

Now check this out about food allergies and food intolerance (2 completely different things):

Symptoms of a food allergy: 1)abdominal pain, vomiting 2)difficulty in breathing 3)loss of consciousness 4)swelling of face, lips, tongue and/or throat; hives

Symptoms of a food intolerance: 1)constipation or diarrhea 2)gas, bloating, cramps 3)headache, migraine 4)insomnia 5)joint and muscle pain 6)mood problems 7)rashes, itchiness, eczema 8)sinus problems

I've been suspecting that I had a food intolerance and now I'm that much closer to believing it. Food intolerances and allergies can be a result of eating a type of food too often and not having enough variety in the diet. So after this fast, I'm going to slowly add different foods to discover which ones are the culprits. Geez, it's like I'm writing a novel here. LOL.

All I had today was lots and lots of orange juice. Tomorrow I get to eat food! YES. I'm still a bit scared that it will hurt my teeth though.

Thank you Kreeli. Well, I don't have insurance and I'm looking for other jobs so I can get some. I have a lot of pets, and that kind of puts me out moneywise.....of course it's worth it for them. The Trader Joe's close to my house will start hiring in February, and they give insurance even if you work just part time....medical and dental.

Well, it's the second day off the fast, and I have to drink orange juice for breakfast, fresh fruit for lunch and snacks, and a huge salad for dinner. I can't wait to get to the food part!

congrats on getting so far

i have almost all of those toxin overload symptoms. scary. all but #2 and 3 i think. no rash right now but every once in a while i'll get hives on and around my wrists and by the end of the day it'll be all the way up my arms and all over my hands. usually goes away within 2 or 3 days, but i have no known allergies and usually when it happens i haven't touched, eaten or used anything new or unusual.
