Hi. I go by skulgurl95 and am just beginning to look into a vegetarian way of eating. I have felt for sometime that I needed to remove meat from my diet. (Today is the first day I have been totally meat free.) I am however, confused at a lot of the terms I read about. I hope as i grow as a vegetarian I am able to clear my diet of many foods which now make me feel unhealthy after consumption. I grew up eating meat but also eating more healthy than now. In short I suppose I am still in the experimentation phase, but feel better without meat and a lot of fat in my diet.

I am also a new veggie. Just started yesterday (10/22/2006). I slowly removed meat from my diet over the past 3 weeks. I'm so glad I came across this site. I think it will be very helpful as I adjust.

Couple more...

vegetarian = no meat

lacto-ovo vegetarian = no meat but they do eat eggs and dairy

flexitarian = a vegetarian who eats meat (wha...?)

vegan = no animals products in their diet, and a desire to strive towards using no animal products in any aspect of their lives

veg*n = combined term for vegans and vegetarians

schmegan = a Hobbit who was possessed by The One Ring but still eats fish

raw foodists = people who eat raw food (they're not always veg*n though)

AR = animal rights

OMG = Oh my god
