This sounds awesome, Elaine! I certainly hope this event has a great turnout! (It makes me want to travel to The Strip...)

ThanksLiving 2013 - Vegas Veg vegan Thanksgiving potluck

Sunday, November 24th at 3pm

Enterprise Library Multipurpose Room (located at south end of Las Vegas Blvd. aka The Strip)

Free if you bring a vegan potluck dish to share; $5 suggested donation if not bringing a potluck item

Children welcome. Sorry, no dogs, no alcohol.

RSVP online at http://www.meetup.com/vegasveg/events/137667342/or https://www.facebook.com/events/422497334521187/

Just bumping as a reminder.

Also:

- Vegans who bring a nonvegan friend will be entered into a raffle. That's right, if you bring a nonvegan friend you could win a prize like a vegan cookbook.

- Please bring containers for left-overs. The idea is to eat a plate and also to take a plate. The plate you take can be for yourself for later or to give to someone else.

UPDATE

The event was hugely successful! We had an RSVP count of 80. Now, most of the time about 20% of the people who RSVP are no-shows. And that was true in this case. HOWEVER, we had a TON of people show up who had not RSVP'd. So the total number of people who attended was 100 (or more since not everyone checked-in, some came late or entered through the side entrance). Well, the only thing was that the room only held 80! So we overflowed into the hallway and outside. It was craziness. Not enough chairs, we had to run out to buy more paper plates, etc. But somehow it all worked out.

There was a TON of food! We took up three tables full of food. But unfortunately a few people were extra greedy and took more than one serving of Tofurky or Gardein or squash-bean stew for themselves which meant that a few people did not get any main dish. Luckily, there were plenty of side dishes and desserts for everyone.

We had fantastic live music. And we said a "prayer" about animals (click here to see it). We had a little "kids' corner" that somehow was really only used by one child at a time. And we earned $266 for our organization!

I'm so glad to hear it went well and there were so many people! Sounds like some of them were a little rude but at least it shows how popular the vegan food was.
