i'm so scared. i've been using laxatives alot lately. terrible, i know. so today my lunch was...lots of lettuce with salsa, a whole wheat tortilla, and applesauce. after i ate i started feeling so nauseous. it's calming down now (ive been lying down and sucking on peppermints, plus im boiling water for peppermint tea)...and i looked at the ingredients on the wraps and they do have seasame flour which i'm mildly allergic to. but, usually i just sneeze. plus, my stomach is SO distended. bloated like it gets after a terrible binge, except i barely ate.(and it became this way when the nausea began) it looks like it belongs a malnourished african child, or a seven month pregnant woman. so i'm thinking that maybe i'm sick because of the laxatives ive been using lately...but would this make me nauseous?? ughh i know theres many recovering eating disordered people on here, has this happened to anyone...or does anyone have any ideas as to what could be going on?

Uh, yeah. You've been abusing laxatives, and now you're digestive system is f-ed up.

Not to be too blunt there, but you already know what the problem is. You can probably recover just fine, but you have to ditch the laxatives (and maybe get some ED therapy )

don't worry about the bluntness. i obviously could guess what was going on but the nausea threw me off a little, i didn't expect that to happen. i am getting better with the laxatives, i'm much better than i was the beginning of the summer. update...ive been sipping ginger ale and nibbling on pretzels (my mom said they help settle her stomach) and i'm not going to vomit. i do feel crampy now. plus i'm going to avoid sesame completely in the future. usually i would eat it occasionally and deal with the sneezing, but i don't want to risk horrible nausea again. bleh.

i will not abuse my body any longer. at all, even once in a while. NEVER. i'm bloated now, but instead of being unhealthy i had a bowl of highfiber cereal and drank like 4 bottles of water.

this scary experience has caused for me to lose any desire whatsover to use laxatives. IM PROUD!

Things that might help: get some pro-biotics (acidophelous, etc.,) to renew the intestinal flora that you flushed down the toilet. go on a BRAT diet (bananna, rice, apple juice, toast). Dont eat any spices that contain antiseptic qualities (no onions, garlic, chili, ginger) for a while.

brat diet? what? but yeah i'll try to eat banana, rice, apple jucie and toast more...umm i'm still REALLY bloated and i haven't BMed since my last laxative use, which was days ago! before these damn things i went twice a day on my own, with no help. i was really tempted to buy lax tea before but i resisted. i've been eating ALOT of fiber today, i thought that would help, but i should eat less? i'm a tad confused now.

i just looked up the brat diet and it says it's constipating..wouldn't that be bad for me at this point and make it even harder to BM??

by the way, thanks for all the kind words and support, everyone that posted<3

the "BRAT" was "Bananas Rice Apple juice Toast".

I think the probiotics are a good idea. Eat lots of fruit, that should flush out your, uh, blockage.

you may have become laxative-dependent...

don't use them

call your doctor if you don't have a BM in a few DAYS.

it's okay to not go every day

Flax oil, fibre and water are all natural laxatives.

ugh new problem. well not new, i guess continued.

the past few days i've been eating well. no binges, no laxatives. i've been BMing but i'm still soo bloated and i have super bad cramps throughout my whole abdomen all day long. i thought PMS might be starting but they go right up to my ribs. i was almost doubled over at one point this afternoon they were so bad, like a knife. it's miserable and my stomach is so distended even though i'm not blocked up.

idk what to do.

can you get someone to go and buy you some baby gripe water from a supermaket or pharmacy? its mainly dill seed oil and natural stuff- they give it to babies with gas so its not full of nasty things. a couple of tablespoons of that will help with bloating and not do you any harm in the process. you'll probably burp big time about 10 minutes after you take it, but you'll feel better too. works for me every time.

other than that, i agree with the probiotics idea, get some probiotic yogurt or acidopholis tablets, and take them every day for a month or so, your poor digetive system is probably really traumatised. also, while your body isn't happy, give it small regular meals, little snacks, like a bit of soup here, a few slices of apple there, ya know? it won't thank you for dropping a big dinner on it.

hope you feel better soon!
