Hi, I'm new here and came across in one of the other boards I visit (www.felinediabetes.com). Thought I'd post just in case there's someone in Toronto who can help. Please feel free to repost this so many people see it!

Thank you!!

My dear friends,

The time has come for me to ask all of you for your help.

Within a matter of days I must leave my apartment for a palliative care home. This means that I now need to find good homes for my babies right away.

Although some of you may not be cat lovers or may not be able to take one yourself, please share this information with as many people as you can. I've attached a biography of each cat, as well as pictures. This will make it easy to forward to all your e-mail buddies. Also, if you have an electronic bulletin board (or intranet) at work, can you please consider posting the notices there also. Please cast your nets as wide as you can. I pray that someone out there may have enough compassion for my babies and my situation that they will consider adopting (or fostering) one of them.

Below is a suggested wording that you can copy, paste, forward or post, along with the bios and pictures (attached). I have attached pictures of Gypsy, Holly and Sydney. When I find one of Tiffany, I will send it along. Or, better still, come see her in person -- she is so beautiful!!

If anyone is interested or would like more information on my cats, or would like to drop by to visit them, please call me at (416) 493-5706, or by e-mail at [email protected]. If you cannot reach me, please contact Karen Ungar at (905) 887-9015 (home) or e-mail at [email protected].

I ask that if anyone can please consider even offering a temporary (foster) home until a permanent home can be found, that would be wonderful.

This is a VERY URGENT situation. This plea comes from the bottom of my heart. Please do everything in your power to help me now -- I need you, my dear friends, more than ever before.

I love you all,

URGENT APPEAL!!

Four lovely, apartment-raised cats are in desperate need of loving and caring new homes.

I have always been extremely devoted to my cats. Now I have a terminal illness and will be moving to a palliative care home as soon as possible. Each cat came to me as a foster "child" when I was a volunteer at the Toronto Humane Society. I had fostered dozens over the years. But only a very special few found a place in my heart and home. Sadly, I must now give up my babies that I have pampered and loved so much, and given my life to over the years.

I urge you to please find room in your heart and home for these dearly loved babies. Since they are strictly apartment cats, they must go to "indoor" homes only. Gypsy and Sydney are very attached to one another and would be best if adopted together. However, any combination or 1, 2, 3, or 4 together would be great!!!

If you are that special person, or know of someone who would provide a suitable home to one (or more) of these cats, please give me a call right away. I would be forever grateful if you can even offer a temporary (foster) home until a permanent home can be found. Financial assistance is being offered with each cat.

I saved these beautiful cats once from an early death. Please help me to find them good homes now so they can live out the rest of their natural lives with new loving parents.

Please check out the attached biographies and pictures of each cat.

On behalf of Gypsy, Sydney, Holly and Tiffany, I thank you all.

Don't know if this is too late, but I know Toronto does have a major cat rescue: http://www.torontocatrescue.ca/store/index.asp . Also check http://www.petfinder.org for other shelters/rescue groups in that area.

i wish i were in toronto and could take four more cats! one tactic that usually works is to make a ton of flyers and leave them places where animal lovers would see them (health food store, vegetarian restaurant, yoga studio, vet office, pet supply store etc)

i'm sorry i can't be of more help... but i will remember you and your kitties is my meditations..
