From what I have read, I'm pretty sure techno is the whole thing, it's a very broad term. Electronica is more influenced (such as by rock music) and typically there is singing, like black audio. I guess trance is based more around repeating computerized patterns, like Juno Reactor.
lol, I could be wrong, but I'm just going with the genres that the music is classified as on Rhapsody and/or myspace.
