I was at a health expo this year and they had vegetarian dog food, and I asked them about cat food, and this woman said that cats need taurine and they are unable to be vegetarian. Without taurine cats can go blind? Is that right?
Taurine is a non-essential amino acid. Humans don't need it, but cats do.
taurine is found in red bull. Whilst it's mainly animal-based, as far as I know, it is synthesised sometimes. Last time I heard, red bull used synthetic taurine, so it is suitable for vegetarians as far as my knowledge goes. But I've cut down on the caffeine, and as such, no hypercaffeinated drinks for me, hence I haven't researched whether red bull is vegetarian or not. I've just heard stuff.
