I woke up the other morning with an extremely sore throat. Today my throat still hurts, my glands are swollen, I have extreme ear pain/pressure, sniffles, a cough, the list goes on
I hate taking medicine. I've been taking Vitamin C, drinking lots of fluids, and trying to get a lot of sleep.
I'm a substitute teacher covering a maternity leave right now and I refuse to miss school. Strep has been going around school but I always think I have strep, get tested, and never have it
At what point (if any) do you think I should see a doctor?
Any other tips so I can get better soon?? I very rarely get sick, and this is probably the worst I have ever felt.

Sounds like strep to me, same symptoms I had when I had it anyway. If it gets doesn't go away in a few days to a week, or gets worse, then you definitely should go to the doctor. Other than that, it's up to you. If it's strep or some other bacteria, they could give you antibiotics to get rid of it more quickly. If it's viral, not much can be done. Lots of fluids and sleep is about the best you can do other than that. Hope you feel better soon!

Are there any white spots or patches in the back of your throat? I get strep throat and there is usually pussy mucous white spots in my throat, the last time the doc didn't even take a culture bc it was so obvious from just looking.

do you have a fever? are you expelling any mucous? if so what color is it?

your description to me sounded like it could be allergy related. "tis the season" as they say, dander/pollen is out like crazy right now.

do you irrigate your sinuses (use a neti pot)? if not this is something to try.

I would consult a physician if you have a fever and white spots in your throat otherwise lots of water (hot tea with lemon is perfect), citrus and rest.

Low grade fever, no white spots. I have so much pressure in my ears/head and I'm just achy and blah. If I press on my glands they kill. If I blow my nose it puts pressure on everything
I have never felt this ****ty before.
If I'm not feeling any better in the next few days then I will probably go to a doctor. Early to bed for me!

Maybe a particularly wicked sinus infection?
