Are you superstitious? I guess I'm borderline. I walk under ladders, encourage black cats to cross my path, am quite fond of the number 13, open umbrellas in the house, put hats on the bed and so on. But I can not stand open cupboard doors and I definitely believe that certain things are signs. Well anyway, have you ever heard that if you sneeze exactly 3 times in a row it means unexpected money is headed your way? I always casually joke about it, but I've noticed lately that it seems to actually happen. I make a mental note every time I sneeze three times and usually within 3 days, I have extra money. I did it once yesterday and once the day before. Today I got a check in the mail for $268.85! It was so unexpected, I didn't even know what it was for. I had to call the phone number on the check just to find out.

Anything cool like that ever happen to you?

Free money? No, that doesn't really happen to me so much.

As far as superstitions go...guess I'm not really that superstitious, even though I will notice when things are eerily coincident and often comment on it. I usually don't walk under ladders, though.

It wasn't exactly free. We'd been charged more interest on a loan than was legal. So they had to pay us the interest back. It was a pleasant surprise. Of course, I'd love for a sneeze to invoke the publishers clearing house prize patrol onto my doorstep. That would be wonderful.

I would consider myself semi-superstitious...if there is such a thing.

If I do well on a midterm or something of that nature, then I will think that outfit is a 'goodluck' outfit and will want to wear it to my next midterm.

In high school before a performace I was given a little squeky stuffed animal pig and then in turn had the best performance ever. I took that little pig with me to the rest of my shows in high school.

If I really look forward to something I always seem to have a bad time. If I am dreading something, I always seem to have a great time. Now whenever there is something I am looking forward to, I try to think of something that will make me not want to go. Isn't that sick?

I know, I'm weird.

I guess I'm borderline too. I knock on wood, throw salt over my shoulder if it gets spilled, usually do the sign of the cross if I go by a funeral or graveyard, I definitely don't open umbrellas inside (you do the opposite Erin?) and I broke a mirror once and really think I had seven years bad luck. Okay, now it's my turn to have three sneezes.

I don't believe them of course, but I feel compelled to do some things. Like knocking on wood is such a big one with me, that I keep some wood in the car in case I need it!

I also always take wishes on my birthday or at a shooting star very seriously. (And don't ever tell what you wished for!)

I do the knock on wood thing and the crossed fingers thing. But sometime ago I found that wood could be hard to come by, so I decided that my head was made of wood, and thus the next best thing.

So usually I knock on the side of my own head- to the "knock on wood" rhythm... but I also add taps for the rhythm of whatever I'm knocking for or against: i.e.: "Gee, I hope I never get in a car accident!" {uhoh- knock on wood! No-car-accidents!} (tap-tap-tap! tap tap tap-tah-tap!)

Uhh... sounds much stranger when I type it out like this. :/

LOL Erin, I do all that, walking under ladders, liking the number 13, etc. I think I know why we're like that too!

I wish on shooting stars, and I believe in omens and such (but only really weird no way that could be coincidence things) but I'm not overly superstitious...

I don't like walking under ladders, but that was ever since the time I nearly had a spanner dropped on my head walking under a ladder past a construction site!

Never heard that one. What's the reason behind it?

It makes them very upset

i am somewhat superstitious. i do the knock on wood thing, but have found knocking on anything works. (LOL) i love the number 13. my daughter and my bro were both born on friday the 13th. leaving cupboard doors open drives me crazy, but i do not know the superstition behind it!

rocking a rocker while no one is sitting in it would drive my grandma crazy. she would flip out if the children did rock it while passing by; however, no one ever said why.

I'm not really superstition, but I'm really starting to believe in fate, and "what goes around comes around". I find that if I believe that things happen for a reason then I tend to stress out a lot less when my life goes haywire. As for "what goes around comes around", it definetly keeps me on my best behaviour!
