those of you having a superbowl party, what are you serving?

my bf is going to make a layered dip, totally nonvegan. so i want to make something i can have that others may enjoy too. but i need something cheap. i thought about guacamole but it may be hard and expensive to get avacado right now. so i dunno, i may just buy a premade hummous dip.

Hrm well the place I shop has avocados for dirt cheap right now (much cheaper than a couple months ago) - probably imported though, but definitely cheap.

If you shop at a natural food store you could hunt down Muir Glen Organic Roasted Garlic Salsa - it's absolutely to DIE for!

I'm no good with homemade dips, but I know someone who takes tofutti non-dairy sour cream, a packet of taco seasoning, fresh chopped onion and celery, and mixes a little of the packet with the veggies and it's really good.

I'm just having a couple of people over but I think we're going to have Morningstar Farms buffalo wings and chips and salsa. Nothing too fancy. Might try to make a layered bean dip, that does sound goooood. I'm sure Kreeli probably has something on her site.

This is easy to make and delicious. It also looks pretty fancy.

Avocado Bean Dip

1 1/2 C vegan refried beans

1/2 pk vegan taco seasoning

1/3 C vegenaise

1/2 C Tofutti Sour Cream

1 4oz can chopped green chilies

1 lg ripe avocado

1 tsp lime or lemon juice

1/2 t garlic powder

1/2 C chopped green onions

1 C diced tomatoes

1 4oz can sliced black olives

Spread refried beans evenly on a large serving platter. Combine taco seasoning, vegenaise, and sour cream. Spread evenly on beans. Spoon the green chilies as evenly as possible onto the taco seasoning mixture. Scrape avocado into a bowl. Add the lime juice and garlic powder. Mix well and spread evenly on the chilies. Top with green onions, then tomatoes and then the black olives.

well nobody that was invited showed up. there was just 4 of us. so my bf made his horribly un-vegan-not-even-vegetarian layered salsa dip, and i just had what was left of the plain salsa. didn't bother to make anything after all, plus my lack of funds made it a little difficult anyway.

good game though
