This is the most amazing pickle recipe I've ever made, NO vinegar, and it has to be white bread which I never have so I get a slice from someone at work..These are DELICIOUS...

Sun Pickles

Recipe By : Florence Cook (Mom)

1/2 cup salt

1 gallon water

1 tbls alum

garlic cloves {I like a lot..about 10-12}

dill {to your taste ..I use the whole bunch}

1 slice white bread

fresh crisp pickle cucumbers (enough to fill jar)

Bring salt, water and alum to a boil.

Cut pickles in quarters or chunks. In gallon jar; put garlic and dill on bottom, middle and top layering with pickles.

Pour solution over top. Put slice of bread on top, cover ; set in sun, 5-6 hours.

KEEP TURNING JAR! (Not a problem if you don't) Ready to eat when brought in.

Refrigerate

Do you mean pickling cucumbers? Or pickles? Is this supposed to pickle cucumbers, or is it doing something to already-made pickles? I'm confused!
