This is the most amazing pickle recipe I've ever made, NO vinegar, and it has to be white bread which I never have so I get a slice from someone at work..These are DELICIOUS...<br><br><br><br>
Sun Pickles<br><br><br><br>
Recipe By : Florence Cook (Mom)<br><br>
1/2 cup salt<br><br>
1 gallon water<br><br>
1 tbls alum<br><br>
garlic cloves {I like a lot..about 10-12}<br><br>
dill {to your taste ..I use the whole bunch}<br><br>
1 slice white bread<br><br>
fresh crisp pickle cucumbers (enough to fill jar)<br><br><br><br>
Bring salt, water and alum to a boil.<br><br>
Cut pickles in quarters or chunks. In gallon jar; put garlic and dill on bottom, middle and top layering with pickles.<br><br>
Pour solution over top. Put slice of bread on top, cover ; set in sun, 5-6 hours.<br><br>
KEEP TURNING JAR! (Not a problem if you don't) Ready to eat when brought in.<br><br>
Refrigerate<br><br><br><br>
