I have been Vegan for about a year now, and during that time, I have done my best to avoid sugar, since I have read that it is processed through animal bone char. However, I recently found some articles on the internet stating that sugar is vegan, while some others state that it is not. I was wondering, can someone clarify this issue for me? I have found a prepackaged Japanese Noodle and Sauce product at an Asian Market that I would like to try, but the sauce contains sugar.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Do a search on Sugar and/or Bone Char. There are several threads already for this.

As far as the sugar being used as an ingredient, the best way to know if it's filtered through bone char is to write the manufacturer. And then you may or may not get a straight answer. Good Luck!
