VeggieBoard interviews are a way for us to get to know each other better. It is a way to acknowledge just how wonderfully varied a community we are.

Every few days or so, a new interview will start and the old interview will be locked.

Every VeggieBoard member is allowed to ask ONLY ONE question per day. Remember that - ONLY ONE. Try to keep this thread about the person being interviewed. If you want to comment about things you discover you have in common or just elaborate on a response, pm them and make a new friend or start a new thread about it. This is intended to be a friendly thread, so please dont ask anything in a purposeful attempt to get a heated debate. Of course, nobody is required to answer a question that they do not want to.

The current person being interviewed will choose the next person. They need to first pm them and ask if they are interested, then pm me to let me know. It is preferred that you pick someone that you do not know very well as the purpose of this thread is to get to know new people.

Also, please keep in mind that any answers you post are viewable to complete strangers. There is some risk in that. Again, all questions are optional.

Is it hard to find veg*n fixin's in Hinesville, GA?

It's harder than in most places I've been to, but not impossible. There are fast food places with vegan options. I can go to Subway or Taco Bell. There is a Mexican food restaurant that will accomodate me and there is a Ruby Tuesday. The nfs didn't have many vegan products before I got a job there, but I got them in the habit of ordering vegan stuff. That's about it.

How do your personal views of war and american foreign policy work in relationship with your husband's occupation?

Not well. I was quite upset when Bush became our new president because I don't like the guy at all. To be honest though, neither does Tim. He's not proud to be a soldier anymore. I'm not fond of the life it has given us or the way the government treats people. I don't like the governments methods. I don't agree at all with the way things have been handled. I have little faith, little trust, little respect. As a military spouse, I'm expected not to bad mouth anything to do with our government. I can't speak freely to reporters and if I speak in disagreement with any of my husbands higher ranking officers, he can get into trouble because he is considered responsible for me. If he speaks openly about his views he can get into trouble at work. It's interesting where freedom stops.

How open are you about your spirituality to family and friends?

Open enough. I'm not in your face about it. I don't talk about it around my relatives unless it comes up. I'm sure some of them have no idea. As far as people that I'm not related to, I like for people to get to know me first. They're always surprised that I don't fit into the stereotypes. I prefer people to form opinions on me based on who I am as a person and not which religion I am a part of. I've lost friends because of it. They don't feel like it would be right to continue socializing with me. That's fine - it's their loss.

When are you moving to Washington? There's this real cool person that lives there. Tim is due to report to Ft. Lewis on October 30th. I might have to wait a little while to join him because we have to sell this house and find another. I'd like to meet this Melissa you speak of .

Where in So Cal did you live and what was your favorite thing about Cali?

I lived in LaMirada from birth to age 7. Then I moved to Hemet until I was 14, then left Cali for a couple years. I ended back up in Hemet, then Wildomar (Lake Elsinore area), then Moreno Valley and finally Hemet again.

The areas I lived in weren't all that great, but there were always plenty of cool places to visit. I really liked my visits to San Diego. The people in California seemed to be much more open minded and accepting of different people than they are here in this part of Georgia. I miss that.

What is your most unfulfilled goal that you'd like to attain in the near, or not so distant, future?

I want to be better. I want to be stronger. I want to make a difference. I want to help much more than hurt. I'm not sure how I'm going to do it yet, but I have complete confidence that I will.

In another thread, you wrote:

When I was 14, I ran away from home. I lived in the mountains of Montana with various people for two years. There was no electricity or plumbing. Bathing was especially difficult in the winter. In order to get water, I would have to either melt snow or break through the ice covering springs and creeks. My being there put other people at risk. When I first left, I went to Northern California. Eventually I decided that I needed to reclaim my identity and start working. I hated depending on other people. I made arrangements and went back to Southern California.

Who's your favorite artist?

What kind of artist are we talking about?

Erin, that's a fantastic story!!

Did your guardians do mad searching for you when you ran away? Two years is quite a length of time. Is there anything more you can tell us about that story... it's quite a peculiarity!

(I'm going to put here, because I don't know where else to put it - I HAD A TYPO (ARGHH!! ) in the other question thread, and it's locked now and I can't fix it! Has your poetry or artwork been published, and if so, is it easily available anywhere beside directly through your website?

Welcome back!

Yeah, I've had poems published in some anthologies. I'm not sure if they were published out of quality or hopes that I would buy the books. I never did buy them though.

My poetry isn't written for quality, it's just an expression of my mood. Since no one offline seems interested in reading what I write, I post some poems online just for the sake of sharing. http://www.angelfire.com/journal/sword2sky/poetry.html

Over 600 of my poems were lost when I left Montana. I've always felt like a part of me was lost with them.

Erin--was there one specific moment that prompted you to vegan or was it more of a journey?

Definitely a journey. I think I was always being pulled in that direction. Once I decided to actually go vegan though, I did it overnight without turning back. Best decision of my life.

Who's your favorite artist? I was speaking of painters... but if there is someone in particular that works with another medium go with that one...

I don't have a favorite. I like a variety. I like things that I can imagine myself a part of. I tend to lean towards fantasy artwork, but I also like renaissance and landscapes. Here are two of my favorites right now:

Did your guardians do mad searching for you when you ran away? Two years is quite a length of time. Is there anything more you can tell us about that story

Yes. There was quite a bit of searching. My picture was in some papers, flashed on a talk show, two states were looking for me, private investigators were hired, etc.

There is more I could tell you, but the story is very long. It would just come off as a bunch of rambling. I'll just answer whatever questions are asked about it.

(I'm going to put here, because I don't know where else to put it - I HAD A TYPO (ARGHH!! ) in the other question thread, and it's locked now and I can't fix it! I find this very funny because I know how annoying it is to catch a typo too late.

PM me about it and I will fix it for you.
