About the interviews

VeggieBoard interviews are a way for us to get to know each other better. It is a way to acknowledge just how wonderfully varied a community we are.

Every few days or so, a new interview will start and the old interview will be locked.

Every VeggieBoard member is allowed to ask the amount of questions specified by the interviewee in the answers to the default questions. If they discover that they chose too high or low a limit, they may change their choice.

Try to keep this thread about the person being interviewed. If you want to comment about things you discover you have in common or just elaborate on a response, pm them and make a new friend or start a new thread about it. This is intended to be a friendly thread, so please dont ask anything in a purposeful attempt to get a heated debate. Of course, nobody is required to answer a question that they do not want to.

The current person being interviewed will choose the next person. They need to first pm them and ask if they are interested, then pm me to let me know. It is preferred that you pick someone that you do not know very well as the purpose of this thread is to get to know new people.

Also, please keep in mind that any answers you post are viewable to complete strangers. There is some risk in that. Again, all questions are optional.

I'd have to say Adolph Hitler's. His purpose in life was to be a peacemaker. He first had to make peace with himself, though. He could have been so great, like Buddha or Gandhi. He didnt know how to express his emotions, which caused him great inner turmoil. That inner turmoil poisoned his powerful character, and led to so much suffering.

How long have you practiced yoga? What type (Iyengar, Bikram, etc.)?

I don't remember. It hasn't been more than a couple years. I do Iyengar most of the time.

Real question: Can you tell us more about your fascination with biology? Also, are there areas (e.g. genetics, ecosystems, sociology, classification...) that capture you more than others?

I make me laugh.

Can you tell us more about your fascination with biology?

What do you want to know? Life fascinates me. I used to go on these nature hikes, when I was a little girl, and explain various facets of biology to my friends. I have more books than I can count on the subject. I love zoology and botany, but most branches of biology interest me. Ive always wanted to be a wildlife biologist. That is the direction I hope to travel in college.

Also, are there areas (e.g. genetics, ecosystems, sociology, classification...) that capture you more than others?

Ecology and conservation interest me the most. I took a sociology class once that I considerably enjoyed. I like anthropology and paleontology. I would very much like to study evolution. Im very curious as to how things came to be and how they'll end up, but I hate genetics, as a study, and hope to have nothing to do with it.

Who do you think has the best avatar or sequence of avatars at VB?

Would you ever adopt cougars, in cases such as former circus animals? (Forgive me if you already have a houseful of cougars, and I didn't know.)

What makes you laugh?

If you could only choose one, would you rather be rich or famous? Why?

My buddy, Oatmeal.

Would you ever adopt cougars, in cases such as former circus animals? (Forgive me if you already have a houseful of cougars, and I didn't know.)

Yeah, Id move out to Ruidoso (NM) with my parents. They have this great house in the mountains. Mountain lions would love it, and Im sure theyd get along great with Tooshea and Josey, my parents golden retrievers. My mom may not be too comfortable with it, but I can talk her into damn near anything. Michael is always so drunk, hed probably never even notice.

What makes you laugh?

People who make fun of my laugh.

If you could only choose one, would you rather be rich or famous?

I havent much use for money, but fame would really mess with my alone time. I think Id choose rich. If I ever had any fame, Id just use it to spout propaganda.

What is it about where you are in life that you like the most and what do you like the least?

I can drink and gamble and the future is wide open. Im lonely. There arent any hugs where I am.

If left is right and right is left what are you?

Right

If you could go anywhere where would you go? and why there?

I would go to Cold Ass Lake (my uncle Mikie named it that) in Alaska. My family used to camp there every fall. Its a nice place. My mother wants me to take her ashes there after she dies. I, on the other hand, would prefer to go back before death. Its not an official place. Its just kind of there, on the Denali National Hwy., out past Denali National Park, past Denali State Park, deep in the interior. No trees grow there, but its so beautiful that youd never miss them. Its so amazing that I cant even talk about it. Eight-hour sunsets, fresh berries all over the ground, snow-capped mountains all around, herds of caribou defining the word freedom for those whove never understood it-I dont even know what to say about it. Ill be there again, someday.

If you could be either a hawk or a dolphin, which would you choose?

Id like to be a hawk. I want to fly, and I dont want to get caught in fishnets.

Seeing as you have an interest in Conservation, what is your option on current Deer conservation efforts? Is it (DEC) a corrupt morass interested only in the almighty dollar? Have you done any study into the history of fish and game, and how their 'management' has affected the environment?

Which do you prefer: ninjas or pirates?

Ninjas

Seeing as you have an interest in Conservation, what is your option on current Deer conservation efforts?

I believe all conservation efforts should be taken out of the hands of the federal government. I also believe that nature has a way of balancing itself, and would be better off without our meddling. I dont believe humans should kill deer for sport or food, but if you make it illegal the numbers of deer will drop at the same rate as the elephant population of Kenya (from 65,000 to 19,000 in ten years) when elephant hunting was banned in 1979. People have to be convinced that they dont want to kill deer. Education is the only effort that will make any difference.

Is it (DEC) a corrupt morass interested only in the almighty dollar?

Well, theyre part of the government.

Have you done any study into the history of fish and game, and how their 'management' has affected the environment?

Yeah, like when the federal government decreed that all the wolves and foxes in Yellowstone National Park be trapped and/or shot so they wouldnt kill the pretty hoofed mammals. Then the elk became overpopulated and drove out the deer and sheep, and destroyed the riverbanks and the beaver habitat. The beavers disappearance threatened the waterfowl, mink, otter and fish populations. With the riverbanks destroyed and the fish population diminished, the bears threatened park visitors in search of food and had to be shot. Ive studied stuff like that a bit. It amazes me how the US government can go through such extent and squander so many resources on testing rearview mirrors for airplanes, but the most thought they give environmental concerns is: Kill da wolves and foxes. They eat pretties.

You're stranded on a deserted island and can take one book with you...what would it be?

Last Chance to See by Douglas Adams

Do you feel you have a purpose in life and, if yes, what is it?

Yes, to be an inventive crusader: a leader with high ideals and a keen mind to solve problems. On an eternal crusade for the good of the world. Supposedly with good instincts for knowing how to pick my battles.
