So the study only had 6 people, but I'll jump at any excuse to go for some curry though, naturally, mine will not have chicken like in the study

Quote:

I have a sensitive mouth so I prefer mild. I do make curries a lot though, and mexican, so I do use spices a lot, I just am conservative with the chillis.

walmart sells a great hot salsa in the refrigerated produce section. if you add cut up jalapeno to that, it's fantastic. i don't know if they sell it everywhere, but it's here in san antonio. so much better than the jars of salsa you buy in the chips/dips section. after having this stuff, i can't eat jar salsa anymore.

one of my favorites is sliciing a potato, putting about 1/4 cup of water mixed with louisiana hot sauce in a plate with the sliced potatoes, then spicing heavily and covering/microwaving for 12
minutes. with a bit of ketchup, it's potato heaven (and it's fat free!).

I'm assuming it's their own namebrand salsa since it's in the refridgerated section? I've seen it before but I wonder if it's differs from each location. It sounds great. I've gotten some fantastic salsas from my other local grocery stores. The only thing that sucks about the salsas in the produce sections are that they don't last as long as the jarred ones but then again I usually finish the container way before the expiration date. It would be nice to stock up though when they are on sale. I'm not sure how well those salsas would freeze though..

I love spicy food, but I can't take more than medium-hot. Once, I was served a meal that was delicious, but too hot for me to eat more than a few bites.

I like curry-spicy, but not chili-spicy.

The latter stings too much.

I recently got some Dave's Ghost Pepper Naga Jolokia Sauce and put about 1ml in some chickpea curry. Ay-ay-ay, finally hot enough. Good stuff.

Spicy food also causes the release of endorphins, resulting in a sense of pleasure and wellbeing:

http://www.healthdiaries.com/eatthis...ndorphins.html

Another spicy food fan here.

I love hot chili and curry either homemade or from restaurants. Pretty much every town in the UK has an Indian restaurant and takeaway. Great places for vegans and omnis alike to find good food. Kidney bean curry and Aloo Sag.

I can't find decent spices and chillies here in Didcot so stock up from the Asian supermarkets when in London. Scotch Bonnet peppers FTW.

UK folks should check out South Devon Chilli Farm for yummy sauces.

For me, the sauce isn't really hot enough unless it has a warning label. From Dave's Ghost Pepper Sauce:

Quote:

Word.

Dried Bhut Jolokia / Naga Jolokia

Quote:

The Bhut Jolokia (A.K.A. Naga Jolokia) was officially measured at over one million Scoville Heat Units (SHU) in 2006 and replaces the Red Savina Habanero (557,000 SHU, measured in 1994) as the current record holder. Please note that, unlike the other loose dried chillies on this page, these chillies are imported by us from Assam, India.

These chillies are very, very, very hot. We recommend taking precautions when handling them: wear gloves at all times when handling and wear a dust/vapour mask if you are grinding (particularly if you use a pestle and mortar) or rehydrating and reducing to a paste. See our Chilli Handling kit on our gifts page. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with water and seek medical advice.

Being three times hotter than an Orange Habanero, our suggestion for cooking with these chillies is to use a small amount, very finely ground (dry or rehydrated and reduced to a paste). As a rough guide, try ¼ of a pod per person for a hot dish.
