Depends on the company.

I hated all soy cheeses until I tried Follow Your Heart Vegan Gourmet. My favorite is Monterey Jack. Its good for pizzas and mac & cheese because it melts. I never tried putting it on a sandwich though.

Haha... depends on the cheese. Some soy cheeses are indeed quite horrible (*shudders at the grilled soy cheese incident of 2006*), but there are several kinds out there that many people love. Sheese, for example, although I'm not sure where you're from, so that may not be an option. Look it up online, though, I've never had it, but it's supposed to be fantastic. You might have to shop around before you find a brand that you like, but be careful. Most soy cheese is designed for people with lactose intolerance, so it might contain casein, which is milk protein. Today I accidentally picked up some soy cheese without reading the label thinking "Oh, soy=vegan". Wrong. Second ingredient listed is casein. :[ Oy.

Vegan gourmet is actually really good. Doesn't taste like "regular" cheese, but I love it.

Ditto. The mozzarella is the best.

I also love the Follow Your Heart vegan cheese. It's the only one I've had that's actually good. My favorite flavors are the monterey jack and the mozzarella; I don't really care for the cheddar.

Follow Your Heart vegan cheeses are the best! My nonvegan friends and family do not think they are eating vegan cheese when I make pizza, lasagna, or melt it on something. That was the hardest thing for me to give up as a vegan, cheese... it was comfort food for me. But now it's easy cause FYH vegan cheeses taste the same as regular cheese!

I only had cheezly cheese, mozarella style, it was lovely, cheddar style it was nice too, and cheezly nacho style, I didn't like that one. But I would still love to try other vegan cheeses.

They sell Cheezley at the Belco markets at that organic store I was telling you about in that PM I haven't tried it though, it's not super cheap for the size it is. As for the Tofutti slices, blech, plastic and there's some Soya cheese in yellow plastic chicken roll shape and it's worse than foul (I think soyland or soyking or something make it but it's the one you find most often). Those other one's in the black packets at woolies taste like cling film too

I mostly make recipes for uncheezes I find on the net or in the Ultimate Uncheese Cookbook.
