Agree, it would be silly to throw it out if the alternative is it actually being used for a good purpose, such as feeding you. I've slipped up before too with honey in stuff, I just finished it and made sure I didn't buy it again.
They'll just throw it away, though. I don't really think that's a viable option when purchasing the item was your mistake.

I did this too the other day!! I was in a rush and wanted a healthy cereal so got one that seemed to be mostly oats, nuts and fruits... But that honey sure can hide itself in the ingredients. I opened it and used some before I noticed, when I suddenly had an urge to re check the ingredients.
