I am just about two weeks and no meats. I'm sitting here in the family room (on the opposite side of the house from the kitchen), I start to smell something and it isn't sitting well with my tummy at all. I go to the kitchen and find my hubby cutting carne asada (he hasn't stopped eating meats). The smell is so bad to me, I am nautious. I am just surprised at how it is affecting me.

Just had to share.

It's the same with me sometimes. For some reason, horribly greasy smells make me hungry though.

I've always been that way with the smells of some meats. Bacon especially.

it depends, when I'm really hungry the smell of meat just makes me more hungry. someone was eating a beef sandwhich at lunch the other day and I actually said out loud without realising what it was "oh my god what is that horrid smell". luckily the person in question didn't hear :/

If its cooking I don't have a problem with it , if its raw like sea food I gag. I was lucky yesterday walking passed our meat and seafood area , the seafood area was not as bad like last week some how.

I haven't reacted to smells as much as watching someone eat meat. It makes me nauseous to see. Especially fatty stringy meats.

Congrats on 2 weeks!!! You are doing a wonderful thing!

The smell of most meats doesn't bother me, the exception being bacon. I gag when I smell bacon cooking. Some meats actually get me salivating like one of Pavlov's dogs. I was riding my bike by a KFC the other day and the smell made me feel instantly hungry.

Same here.
But dead animal in my own kitchen would make me gag. Our home is vegan and it needs to stay that way.

My husband and I went out to get falafel donairs. But we had to leave before ordering, because they were grilling meat for the people in front of us...and the smell literally made us so sick we couldn't stand to stay in there. It was overwhelming and I thought I was going to throw up.

Funny story: I once walked into my house and said, "Did the dog poop somewhere?" After spending a couple of minutes looking for it, I found out that the smell was coming from this chicken my mom was making!

Other than that incident, it really depends on whether or not I'm hungry when I smell meat cooking. Sometimes it makes my hunger worse, other times I have to cover my nose and/or close my door.

Bacon has always grossed me out, not the smell, it was just the fact that bacon is like 90% fat.

It was a really strange thing for me yesterday. I have never had a reaction to the smell of meat before and didn't even think I would react that way.

To me it just feels like the smell alone could clog your arteries. Apparently that's what cooking human smells like, too, which just seems like a really unnatural thing to enjoy :p

Yes, the smell of bacon is particularly pungent, the smell just seems to hang around for hours. I've got through a few cans of air freshener to try and combat the noxious niff. Since becoming veggie, then turning vegan, i find the smell of any meat cooking to be pretty repulsive.
