Smart things Vegans say to Omni's:<br><br><br><br>
We've all got the stupid things that Omni's say to us, so on the flip side what are some smart remarks we can reply with?<br><br><br><br>
When I'm sitting down to a lunch with tofu in it and someone scrunches their nose and says "ewwwww, tofu, gross", I like to reply with, "I'm eating soybean curd while you're eating ground up cattle, and you think my food is gross?"<i>my</i><br><br><br><br>
Or when asked by an omni who wants to know why I'm a vegan and I'm sure it's a setup for some stupid remark, I sometimes reply "I'm not a vegan because I love animals, I just really hate plants".<br><br><br><br>
What do you say to Omni's who say stupid things?

Usually when someone tries tofu for the first time, they say "it doesn't taste like anything."<br><br><br><br>
I like to reply with, "Oh, well what exactly does chicken taste like?"<br><br><br><br>
Then explain how all taste is in the spices, sauces, and flavorings.

"Do you eat fish"<br><br>
"Fish isn't a vegetable."<br><br>
---------<br><br>
"What are you eating?!"<br><br>
"Tofu"<br><br>
"Gross. How can you eat that stuff?"<br><br>
"How can you eat a sh** sandwich?"<br><br>
--------------<br><br>
"Do you eat chicken?"<br><br>
"No way. You couldn't pay me enough to eat that stuff. Do you know what's in it?" Then very politely explain the ingredients of meat.<br><br>
-------------<br><br><br><br>
What do you say to parents (yours or ones you know when you're in the room with them) who insist that when their kids are eating a hamburger or whatever meat sandwich they're eating, to "Just eat the meat." I don't know how many times I got that as a kid. We're sitting in McDonalds, and I ate half of my [crap] burger, and my parents insisited that I just finish the 'meat'--that it was the best part. When omnis say stupid things to me, I cook them dinner. I no longer cook meat, thus they eat and enjoy vegan food. Or I remind them that I've fed them vegan food in the past. My mom and my bro can no longer say anything about vegan food because they love my cooking too much.

"I only eat things with two cell walls" if someone asks why I'm veggie (and you can tell they are looking for an arguement). Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer. Shuts them up everytime. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/grin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":D"><br><br><br><br>
If ya don't already know, one of plant life's distinguishing features is that it's cells have two walls, animal life, only one. ( I think mushrooms and yeast are the exception to this, but if they weren't looking for a genuine answer I don't worry)

I think ridiculing omnis too much is detrimental. I was an omni once (purely from habit and it was just the normal thing) and if I had had some vegan come up to be and say I was stupid I may have gone against anything veggie (probably wouldn't have happened)<br><br><br><br><br><br>
Of course there are those who are anti-veggie and will argue with you agressively just to put you down (luckily I haven't had an argument as I never talk about it ;-) ) ....... so reserve your "stupids" for them ;-)

For 18 years I was a bovo-pollo-pesco-lacto-ovo-vegetarian, then for 2 years I was lacto-ovo, then I became vegan. So no, I was never not veg*n.

Veg*n is just a way to include both groups in one. Like, instead of "Vegans and Vegetarians don't eat....", you can say "Veg*ns don't eat..."

If an omni is interested in what I have to say, I'll explain. If not, I usually grin at them and yell "banana!" at them... or something of the sort.

But who wants to eat mushrooms?! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/shocked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=""> ewwwww! Yeast is pretty gross too, but I have to use it occasionally to make cinnamon rolls <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/tongue3.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":p">
