They have this show called the "Morning Mash Up" and I was listening to it today. They had a segment about how stupid turkeys were (incorrect facts such as if they look up to the sky when it rains, they drown) and because they were so stupid, thats why we eat them.

It made me so mad

I feel like calling in to tell them how smart turkeys actually are.

Oooh, I just looked into the 'looking up and drowning' myth for a friend. It has one HUGE problem ...

Turkey's don't have binocular vision. To look at something above them they turn their head to the side, not look straight up. The genesis of the myth probably resulted from the observation of turkeys extending their necks so their head points straight up - the result of an abnormal genetic condition. Very similar to the spasticity I get in my legs, where the muscle contracts and won't relax.

Its interesting how omnis try to justify killing/eating something b/c the animal is "stupid". As if that would be a reason to take a life/cause suffering. hmmmmmm

I thought this was about the astronomical body "Sirius" colliding into something.

If we have to make statements like "We eat stupid things" then the obvious, unspoken, is that we don't intrinsically feel good about it. We feel we must justify it. The brain power of the animal really has nothing to do with it. It's irrelevant.
