how she got the last name Brown, the last time we brought her to the vet, when she started to get sick, a friend drove me and came inside and the vet thought she was his cat so put his last name on the chart and Sindi was suddenly Sindi Brown. it really suited her though so i didn't argue lol. oh and Sindi because she had a littermate named Mindy who was almost identical to her except for the facial markings and slightly shorter fur. both calico. we decided on the spelling to be different though cause she was always a bit of a nutcase

anyway the last year or so she's lost a lot of weight and was always very tiny to begin with. when i saw her at christmas it was almost gross to pet her cause you could feel every bone. she basically stopped eating, once she even refused to come inside and sat in the yard for 3 or 4 days without eating or drinking anything, my mom eventually went out and got her and she'd lost so much weight and just never put it back on after that. we tried a bunch of new kinds of food lately, and she'd eat for a day or two and then decide she didn't like it anymore, so we'd try another brand, and the same thing, eat for a day or two and then not touch it again.

i have a couple of really nice photos of her, i'll post them whenever i can get them scanned.

thanks guys

it's really hard to think about right now, haven't even told my bf or anyone cause i'm still sorta in shock. 18 years is a long time to spend with someone and then have them just be gone one day. even though i didn't live with her the last 3 years, it's still wierd.

one photo i absolutely have to post, she's so pretty in it, and it's a nice b&w shot. i wish my scanner worked my roommate now has a webcam though so i'll likely have new pics of Moo the brat soon.

oh, um and kinda funny, but my mom's always said that as soon as Sindi's gone she's never bringing another animal into that house, ever. but the day she had her put down a client told her about a 2 year old cat that needs a new home and when she described her she described Sindi perfectly. so my mom's thinking about taking her

LF- I am so sorry about Sindi.

My cat is the same age, so I can understand what it is like to have a pet for so long. I would love to see your pictures.

thanks all *hugs all around*

my mom said today that she still hears her now and then and forgets she's not there and looks for her. she was a very vocal cat, especially the last couple of years.

it was pretty much expected though, we were told a couple years ago that her kidneys were starting to go, it was really just a matter of time. the whole family's getting sick now though, it's wierd. the day after it was done, my mom got the flu, and i've been coming down with something the last few days, and i found out today my brother has a bad wisdom tooth that's causing a lot of pain and stuff. kinda funny cause any time i was sick or sad as a kid the cat would always sit with me to make sure i was ok

Im sorry to hear about your cat I had a dog named Bigs from before I was even born. We had to put him to sleep about 3 years ago when I was 13 because he had such bad arthritis he couldnt even stand up anymore. It used to be he would slide on our hardwood floor when walking and sometimes start slipping then fall. About two years later he could not even stand up anymore. He was going deaf too. I remeber he used to be crabby whenever you touched his front paws and that day he didnt even care. He looked so sad. And my mom decided it was time to put him to sleep. I had known bigs all my life. I never cried about it though but I felt empty inside. I even went around the house and collected his dog fur and put it in a baggy so I could have a memory of him. For the longest time i kept it then eventually threw the dog fur away when I was cleaning out my room. I still think about Bigs sometimes and wonder if he is in heaven or somewhere else.

well my mom took in the other cat. she's 6 years old, there was a miscommunication somewhere. and my mom says she's the fattest cat she has ever seen. she rushed out and bought diet food for her lol. she went home with her yesterday and spent most of the night hiding but then woke my mom up in the middle of the night and went to sleep on her feet. so it looks like she'll be ok there. still not totally comfortable with the house, my mom said when she came home from work today the cat took off and hid for about half an hour but now she's roaming the house making "guinea pig noises". she said she talks when she's petted and sounds like a guinea pig. can't wait to meet her next time i'm up north. name's Zoe
