Dentists sometimes have these little tablets, which you chew, that highlight your teeth to show where there is an excess of bacteria - this helps with cleaning since you can do it till all the highlight is gone so you know you've done a good job. Anyways, does anyone know what these are called? As I have no clue and would like to see if I can get some myself.

Google is our friend.

You can stain plaque by chewing red "disclosing tablets," found at grocery stores and drug stores, or by using a cotton swab to smear green food coloring on your teeth. The red or green color left on the teeth will show you where there is still plaqueand where you have to brush again to remove it.
Stain and examine your teeth regularly to make sure you are removing all plaque.

http://www.colgate.com/app/CP/US/EN/...rid-of-it.cvsp

Sorry that it's Colgate...good info though...

With Google, sometimes less is more. Be specific. In this case, "colored tablets plaque" did the trick.

Pssst! Use food coloring, or freshly juiced beets!

Didn't know it was plaque it showed up...mind, plaque is dental jargon for bacteria more or less or where they exist on teeth. I'll try the food dye thing...which colour is best? And is it the same you put in icing and stuff?

dilute the food coloring! seriously.....you don't want red or blue or green stain on your enamal! I like the idea of beet juice personally, but I'd at least dilute food coloring down with some water....you only need a little color to tell where you're missing.
