Look into Auditory Processing Disorder. I have it, and I think my dad does too, to some extent. It's sometimes mistaken for having bad hearing, but what is really going on is that the brain has trouble processing sounds. I think there is some sort of therapy, but even if you don't go that route, it helps to know how to avoid bad situations (for instance, people with APD understand voices a lot better if there's no background noise--loud rooms full of people are the worst).Originally Posted by OregonAmy
Good luck! I'd be curious if there is anything wrong. I always have to ask people to repeat themselves, because it sounds like they're mumbling, and I rely a lot on lip reading. I had a hearing test a few months ago, and they said my hearing was just fine and i don't have any blockages. So I have no idea what's wrong, except that I'm easily distracted.
