The future of Stargate is in question today, as SCI FI Channel has cancelled the long-running Stargate SG-1, Multichannel News reported today and a GateWorld source has confirmed. The news regrettably follows the airing of the show's milestone two-hundredth episode on Friday.

Ironically, this is the first year since Season Four that plans were already in place, both creatively and in signed actor contracts, for another year. The show has lived on year-to-year since moving to SCI FI, with the writers forced to write a possible series finale every year -- only to find the show renewed once again.

Following the September 22 mid-season finale, SCI FI Channel intends to air the final 10 episodes of Stargate SG-1 beginning in March, 2007, a source confirmed to GateWorld.

Stupid sci-fi channel. What else have they got to air anyway? "Who wants to be a retarded superhero?" yeah... great show they have there. GG scifi, GG.

Yes but the way sci-fi canceled - just brought it up after the big 200th episode celebration was completely off.

The story conflict with the Ori need another season to fully grow and expand. I know that like almost every year now the writers have had ot deal with having to end the show, as the show has only been renewed year by year, but they said they were confidant to last and write into an 11th season.

This seems like it just sort of sprung up.

Perhaps Michael Shanks will make a series jump to Atlantis, he seems like the best ( and really the only) character that could make a successfull series jump within the lore.

I just really think it should have went into an 11th and final season.

Ill probably still watch Altantis next season, but its not the same. Atlantis to me was a spin-off, not really more then that. I only watched it as an afterthought to sg1. Sort of like Voyager to DS9.

Yeah I thought the "Who Wants to Be A Retard" was the stupidest thing ever! Like I said to a friend of mine when we watched part of the first episode of it, I said, "Those geeks need a hobby! And wearing tights isn't a hobby!" and she laughed her *** off. LOL

But I love SG1! I can't believe it's over!

Well, at least Sci Fi is giving them a season to finish things off. All Farscape fans got was a cliff-hanger series finale, and a two hour movie to try to wrap up all the loose ends. Stupid Sci Fi channel.

I really think that it's about time. I've been following SG-1 since the early days, and after seeing the first season of Atlantis, I'm thought that SG1 should have been cancelled and everything should go towards Atlantis.

That said, I just think that the Ori are crap villains. SG1 is getting old, and in my opinion, it's time to finish it. Especially since Richard Dean Anderson's absence took a lot out of the show.

Awww. They were talking like Richard Dean Anderson was going to be a regular guest star, so I was hoping there would be at least one more season with him. It's true that the show has gone downhill this season, but it's still a good show. This makes me sad.

At least I like Atlantis. I think it's good enough to stand on its own.

My question is what will they fill the time slot with?

Remeber when they canceled Farscape and put that horrid Tremors show on?

Talk about stupidity.

I love SG1 course I still watch Star Trek so I guess someone just just stamp a big geek on my forhead and be done with it.

I liked SG-1 much more than Atlantis. I guess all that is left is Atlantis though. It's okay, I watch Animal Planet much more than the SciFi Station anyway.
